reread entire vol 5 ... still a pretty good ride

laughed again at the offbeating scene with the parents of Daiba.

hopefully vol 6 starts with Sax girl getting back on her feet, I like her, she's a sweetie.

The series is indeed NOT dropped. I've just been going though some shit; haven't been able to bring myself to translate anything lately. I was already pretty deep into the next chapter when I stopped, so I could probably finish it relatively quickly. (And it's a good one. This entire next volume is the best so far.) I'll try to have it done and up before the year ends, but if that doesn't happen, then it'll be very early in January. After that, I'll hopefully be back in the swing of things and releases will be much more frequent than they have been over the past year.

Really glad to hear that !

Btw, why do you always make "blues" a plural in your translations ? I always thought "blues" was an uncountable noun, like "rock". Or is it a plural in Japanese ?

Thank you for your work though, looking forward to when things resume.

Has this series been dropped?

Did they dropped the series?

i think shinobu did her best, i mean, like the others, at any cost that they have to gain an experience to get a new power in their instrument, she also sell all her fav. stuff to get new keyboard. sometimes, gear is also an important things on music

I really like this manga but the portayal of Hendrix is pretty shite. Considering the type of drugs he did (specifically LSD) I seriously doubt his ego would be this big.

This is the bare minimum necessary you must have to play the guitar like Jimi Hendrix.

Kinda disappointed with that last chapter... It wasn't detailed and technical like Daiba's training, and it wasn't touching and heartwarming like Meguro's chapter. It wasn't even that funny or interesting, and could have been a good occasion to learn more about her - maybe even a little flashback showing how she got into piano ?

Still, gotta commend the artist for trying something new each time.

Side note : it's weird that she says there's no point in copying other songs... First, why would you do that if you think there's no point (she could do other stuff like practice improv or learn some new chords idk), and second it's wrong ! Music, like pretty much anything, is learn by copying. Plus deciphering songs by ear gives a huge boost to your musicality.

tl;dr : meh :s

Odd, it was one of my favourites. Wonderfully played with the format. It was a great "show not tell" into her domestic circumstances. Had a nice runthrough theme of death, purification, consumption and sacrifice which with her paranormal obsession is key to er character and expressed nicely in that way. Finally it had great moments of visual comedy.

I'm on chapter 15 and as fun as this manga is there's a really big plot hole that's bugging me. Not a single one of these people with supposed crossroad demons has any original talent or interest in developing their own music so far. They're just letting someone posses them and coasting on the other person's talent, calling it there own. Alright maybe saying they have no talent is too harsh cause they seem to have some. Nowhere near enough to justify selling their souls, or in this manga's case, the rest of their lives but being a great musician's reincarnation isn't even close to being a legend in your own right. Datt-whatever for example certainly didn't seem all that amazing. Hopefully Shiori-sensei will figure that out before her year is up.

To me that was the first thing that struck me about Honda vs the host of Kurt. She's always also wanted to play herself and for herself whereas every performance by the other guy we have seen has been plugged in.

Anyway, all that aside, this is a manga which does get the joy and spirit of performing music.

You don't know shit about the blues.

Spoiler

it's yet one of the best artistic chapters this manga has to offer.

If Jimi had the goosebumps from the teacher's music, I had from the progress she made; was not that much cliched-expected as I thought, the author really made it special

plus we got a lot of good reactions images of Jimi + "it's shit", what else can we ask for

Spoiler

Good chapter.

And a villain appears? I can't remember, did that guy appear before?

Sort of. We've never seen his face, but we saw the back of his head when we were first introduced to Car-man and Cobain.

There was also the bottle of wine he put on the grave. A long, long time ago in volume 2 or something Shiori got a quick flash of Jimi's death while they were jacked in, which involved a wine bottle thrown at a wall. Maybe it's related~~~~~?

The great shit heh?

Masturbation-jokes always work. ALWAYS!!

Good chapter.

This manga is great shit too.

I'm dying from all this waiting for a new chapter

As someone who recently started into a career of making custom guitars, but has never played a musical instrument, I looking forward to reading this.

Playing the piano till your hands bleed is no joke. Don't do drugs kids.

Practicing an instrument is harsh.

Ah... Somebody once told me... nah mmm...

This was a really good chapter.

I love how this manga manages to show how musicians actually have to practice their technique, tempo, ear (pitch) and so on and so on.

You don't turn into a shred god over night, it's all about practice and dedication.

The funniest chapter so far and I like the idea of making it a 4-panel  with a set  perspective but it feels to me like nothing really happened. She sold all her stuff showing her dedication. Has anybody else thought as well that using the same background over and over again makes the drawing faster and easier?
