This was not a very good short story tbh.

First, usami maki puts in that 'special someone' for the male MC, and EVEN dedicates an entire chapter solely on their past history together.

At the end of the long flashback, he has her photo there in his wallet, slipped onto the floor while he's asleep in the present. It's crystal clear the mangaka wants us to know he viewed her romantically in the past, and even so in the present.

That's fine, it was bound to happen in a chaptered series. How else are you going to fill the pages if it's longer than a oneshot right?

But the problem is, after that flashback and chapter ended, his feelings were not mentioned again from his own POV.

Like, aren't you still in love with her? How can he, without internal conflict, go to the current female MC, and not spend time with the so called 'special someone'?

He never even addressed his feelings for his old crush, nor even acknowledged it in the present.

It's ridiculous for the mangaka to spend an entire chapter to his old crush, and yet not address the issue RIGHT after the flashback, when his old crush came back conveniently.

It's certainly lazy writing.

It could be the editor or another factor, or, she assumed it's not necessary... uh.... no.... it's even less believable of a story if you don't address it.

Also, the male MC goes into the female MC's room and sleeps with her in her bed everyday. He teases her, 'did you fall in love with me?' but somehow is soooo surprised to find out the female MC likes him? Oh wow, whut? It's shoujo but there's a limit to stupidity in characters.

What the... if you have a 'special someone' from your past, you should NOT be doing these things with a high school girl you are not interested in romantically, period.

Also, they never even kissed, their relationship was all over the place, despite the fact they live together.

I usually don't like it when one of them goes away to another country, hence a time skip, but this time it makes sense.

The guy is literally just mooching off her. He's a bad teacher, can't qualify even for part time jobs, eats a lot, super messy, causes more trouble than good, etc.

It's definitely good for him to at least use the one thing he is good at and be useful for once.

Overall, romance was disppointing, main issues never addressed and the scan quality is HORRIBLE past chapter 1.

So, I say skip this series.
