I can sympathize with this loner type of protagonist way more than with other types although my won childhood should have been fulfilling. I guess I can understand his thought process better as he is rather preserved
This seems interesting mainly because the art style and the "atmosphere" the style helps create, like the visceral look of the alien's tools and spaceships, the choice of showing explicitly alien taking apart a fish for example. The hearing and seeing thing is also done in a way that makes it seem really traumatic, and what's with the life force thing also.
These things really do create this "alien" feel to manga, like something is not quite right, like it might appear for now to be nothing but a two bits alien/magical/pixie-manic-girlfriend-showing-a-depressed-and-lonely-guy-the-world-is-beautiful, but later it will throw us a curve something like the alien acting all cute and friendly to the MC only but she dissects everyone else and has a secret plan to open a portal to let her kinds in and take over the world or something like that.
In other words, a Saya no Uta-kind of story (but instead, hopefully, the MC doesn't just go along with the plan, to create some actual drama). If it is this kind of deconstructive story, then of course it will be great, but if I know anything about manga, I know that moe blobs are the things that sell.
Really liked this chapter. I hate his childhood friends cause they looked down on him and not cause of how they behaved. I guess that Genta actually wanted to bring the friendship to an end already but the girl probably not as she was trying to say sorry and she was the one to visit him while Genta waited outside(?).
Never trust the ayys
XCOM when
I don't trust that ayy lmao
Like wtf.
Fucking bitch and douchebag pairing.
Hope we never see them again.
Actually I hope they break up and one of then comes crawling back to MC but MC totally shuts them down.
EXACTLY! I also thought that the first time I translated it.
It really piqued my interest because it's kinda fast wtvr.
I liked that MC wasn't inlove with the girl. Also, this manga reminded me of this masterpiece.
Cons - it's a fucking manic pixie dream girl, and WHY exactly xe is letting him decide xer ENTIRE LIFE? I mean this goes beyond just "pick my gender", xe apparently wants to stay his companion forever after two days? Because... she xe gave him cold and hastened his "breakup" that was bound to happen anyway? Shitty setup.
Also holy shit I am unironically using gender-neutral pronouns
Oh, I see where this is going...
Hope it stays interesting
Hmm, somehow strange how the alien suddenly got so attached to main character to the point that he/she devoted himself/herself to give him all he needs and even let him choose his/hers gender. I hope it will be explained later.
I just had this feeling that the mc will be that kind of mc. Thr romance will be dragged on, etc. I just hope i was wrong. I hope they will be like Horimiya though. Not in a sense of comrom, but the mc will be a decisive guy, and we'll see them face the hardship together as couple... I hope...
No, the manga isn't one-shot there's more chapter to come next. I was also glad he severed friendship with those "friends" but regarding the MC's personality, that will be resolved once the manga has plenty of chapters to build his character to improve. We're just at first chapter so chill. Σ( ° △ °|||)︴
Yeah but in shoujo the male lead is the winner of their respective mmf childhood friend love triangle, and the third-wheel becomes permanent because the heroine is too "nice" to sever ties or exclude them even slightly.
It's good that this is only happening this time but if you were to read shoujo manga. Dang! Fucking irritating because everything is always the same plot. Lol. Nevertheless, I get you. ●▽●
You are sure fun at parties.
What's with the recent surge of pathetic foreveralone loser third-wheel pieces of human trash protagonists lately? Losers have always been common, but the "3 childhood friends, 2 are fucking/dating/etc and 1 of them isn't me" trope keeps popping up.
yeah...
