I have a feeling we already know who Kotetsu's "Master" is.... Pretty sure she goes by the title "Elder Sister" to Hikage. I mean since she's a monster beyond monsters from what we've learned of her. Granted... he's not exactly one to talk about not being scary. Taking an 8 million dollar gamble isn't a small time caper.
I didn't really pay much attention but when I went back and check again I can't find any reason to have many characters draw with one eye close thought. Some of them were fitting but some were not so yeah quite a bother.
You are not the only one
While I agree with the uncommon attributes, imo, the author don't know how to use them properly.
What I mean is, as of now, I'm seriously thinking in drop this one, the plot is good, but the characters are not being properly "used".
I don't feel that sensation of being hooked in the story because of that.
In a certain way, feels too generic.
I'd say Hikage is the better version of Fujishima Narumi, Narumi character is relatable, way too relatable, but Hikage is the character that we trived to be, something shounen manga usually have. Both of them solve problems with con-artist-esque plan and often is a dangerous gambling (of course Narumi's side has the literal version of dangerous) but they always pulled it off.
Well in short maybe Hikage is the best MC of all Hikaru Sugii's work i've read, I haven't read his newest and some of his older novel so I can't really say the best of all Hikaru Sugii's work
From missing wabbit to teenager edgy problem who wants to beat the president because enemy. This has come a long way.
better than some other manga where ppl get theirs plucked out and "have" to close them...
This is the third Sugii Hikaru work I've read, and it's really apparent what character tropes he likes to use: absurdly charismatic female that drives the plot, slightly sour and comparatively "normal" MC who is good for a pensive monologue at the end of every arc, tsundere loli heroine who saves the day, and everyone is bisexual.
I won't complain, though, since these kinds of tropes are definitely more uncommon in most light novels and manga, and there's always the right amount of zaniness that makes it fun.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but the author really likes showing characters with one eye closed. At first I didn't mind it, but after seeing that face in almost every chapter; is starting to really bother me.
Rereading this reminds me that how much I tried to like it, going out feeling that something doesn't work quite right, like a puzzle that doesn't fit.
If you separate the parts out, they're all quite individually fine, exemplary even. The art is pretty, the character designs are attractive, and the "craftsmanship" of the paneling, pacing, and so on are excellent. Each individual character for the most part have their gimmicks, their characterization, and motivation, which, if a little shallow, are at least consistent. The main character is, by and large, an intelligent and charismatic character, at least when he's given space to do his own thing, and the mascot/titular character, Kirika, is suitably cute with nothing objectionable to her, even if her presence is a little weak. Each individual story arc and mystery makes sense in its internal logic.
Yet it just doesn't work. Something's off, and I think the major flaw is the President character. She is apparently the "real" main character to many of the others here, having dramatic backstories with most of them, the Gatsby to our narrator-MC. Her character is treated as extremely charismatic by the story and all the characters, is clearly extremely intelligent to the point she's some sort of puppetmaster, and she is trying to implement her Machiavellian schemes, outright hurting her childhood friend and manipulating the others to...do something. In a school.
I would accept her characterization if her name is Cesare Borgia or Daenarys Targaryen. But she's not out to claim the Iron Throne or to rescue Italy from foreign domination. She's a student council president doing student council things, like running school festivals and changing school rules so skirts can't be shorter than whatever inches. OK, so there's a Harvard-sized endowment and this supremely powerful student council is running it but...it's a school. It does school things.
This ill-fitting puzzle piece dominates and suffocates everything else. It could have been a straightforward and entertaining tale about a student council detective, her sidekick, and the bunny resolving mystery cases and making friends. In many ways it is exactly that story, but half the arcs end up being about some sort of student council-assembly-committee-whatever politics, between sixteen years old, without, you know, an actual Iron Throne to claim.
well, ain't that shitty. and since even the manga isn't that well-received the ln has no translations whatsoever (and would take years to catch up to the manga anyway).
Manga ended with 43 chapters/9 volumes, LN is still ongoing.
That's why I feel like have read this on somewhere else.
Actually they've been out for a good few months. It's just that we didn't upload them on batoto.
Because this:

Probably the president made an offer that if he joins the council nobody will bother him anymore.
He came because he was forced to but stayed for Kirika.
i can't remeber why im following this and too lazy to reread. on to the next
Didn't it have something to do with being useful to Kirika? I'm sure Kotetsu tricked/manipulated him in some way so that he would "have no choice" but to join(likely related to Kirika).
Nonetheless, I got confused by what was going on this chapter. Gonna have to reread it again =01.
I honestly can't remember the MC's motivation for being in council anymore
What is this manga even about, anyway
But that character at least had a hairstyle a boy could normally have. Kaoru feels like he is trying to cross-dress.
Kaoru reminds me of this particular character.
Great series, but holy **** the winking
