Lets get real here. Nobody that is reading this is going to be living below the poverty line. Complaining about the quality of artwork or story on an Internet medium is a first world problem. We will have zero appreciation of living on the edge.
No but they're not even conveying that well. His eyes aren't sunken, his clothes aren't threadbare. He's not hardened or broken just deadpan. It's not like a person who's given up, it's like a doll. Like the mangaka absolutely does not give a shit and just wants to progress the plot past all this.

The bus collides with a truck but this is not shown in the manga but in the WN.
He never said it was a masterpiece but states his opinion that the novel is better. I read the WN and I myself think that it is better due to the slower progression. The manga skips a lot (it has to otherwise the progression is to slow) but therefore a lot of the background information is lost and the manga seems rushed with a lack of detail. I pretty much always prefer the source material. (I am reading this because it follows the LN and not the WN)

Hiatus after 3 chapters
Actually enjoyed that chapter 3, that was realistic. I mean: Suddenly transported/merged with a child of another world, living a shitty life in the slums, then a one in a million chance happens and you're suddenly pulled out of that misery and have the opportunity to be whatever in that fking world is a higher status... You actually wanna be modest and don't screw up your relations with your classmates.
The LN was pretty bad for the first volume and barely passable in the 2nd, but then it gets a lot better further along.
Does anyone else get the impression the mangaka is just trudging along? Everything feels flat and matter of fact. MC is completely dead inside, but the narrative is moving along too routinely for it to even be acknowledged. It feels like the MC is suppose to disappear at some point and the real story is suppose to follow one of the other characters.

I can see how some people will find the MC's demeanor in this chapter to be really weak or beta for taking the abuse that's been directed towards him, but I think I would act exactly the same way in his situation. If I were in total poverty, I would do my damned best not to upset the status quo and ruin my one chance at getting out of it.
