I capitoli in italiano non funzionano
Yeah that was pretty much my thinking of Shouhei too. I was pretty mad about the MC obtusely accepting her predicament in the first chapter, but I've been trying to adopt the attitude to read a few chapters into a manga before judging it. Oh boy! While I do feel that helps me build a better opinion/critique of a story it's painful sometimes. This was one of those times.
Japan needs to stop Truck-Kun. He's simply too bloodthirsty.
How sad.
Think about it. Imagine a relatively intelligent character, (regardless of gender), from your favorite manga/tv show. They don't have to be a genius. They've time traveled to the past. They end up in front of brothel. Do you think they're going to live and work there because they're momentarily disoriented, and have no idea where to go? Not even a sex worker from our modern times would do that, (if they're educated, that is). I couldn't imagine. So, the brothel might possibly have "cleaner, healthier" clients, (was this actually written in the manga???), but a girl just died from a disease in chapter one that's incurable in their time period. Are you serious?
How can you imagine a modern woman who's never had sex before, (and who didn't originally have a desire to become a sex worker), to just be okay and resigned to becoming a sex worker? She wouldn't understand or care about the dangers of being in that era, she'd hightail it away from a brothel.
And it's not about pushing realism on this manga. A normal, properly developed character would not accept it either. To make this clearer, it's not just about the girl's choice to stay at the brothel. If her reasons for staying at the brothel were described in a logical sequence of events that could convince the reader that she's made the choice on her own with a sense of mind behind it, then we wouldn't have these problems. But we do, and the development with the characters and plot is incredibly lacking. But to each their own. If you like this sort of thing, don't mind me.
The mangaka is going to try and have us like shouhei as the eading man, but sorry- he just sold that girl into a brothel. he's an asshole, and then he sleeps with her in her vulnerable state. I'm not going to like him- there's some things that are just too horrible to forgive.
He just sold her to the brothel owner. The thing he stuffed into his clothing was a bag with money.
And no, how would you know that this is the best, cleanest brothel in this area? You still get sick from work. He could have lead/smuggled her outside, but he didn't.
Th MC has stuff she could have sold or used her knowledge to her gain. But she didn't. Instead she just "Oh, I'm in a brothel! Hm, what to do? Let's just work as a prostitute! Yeah!" So, nope! This all still stinks.
I am convinced that Shouei is just a major asshole who
soldlead her to a brothel. Yeah, everything she does makes no sense. She resigned herself to a fate she can obviously avoid, but then again this Yumi Takano we are talking about. This author loves to wrap up shallow, boringpornsex scenes into fairy tales. The plot(???) is just the wrappings that surrounds the said sex.Note: I like smut and good sex scenes. And I admit that the sex scenes here are one of her "better ones", but that doesn't mean it matches with the character development.
The first chapter progressed so fast that it was hard to really connect or care for the characters. It read more like a summary. Unlike say, Jin, the manga about the doctor who goes back in time, and his experiences is really in depth and the story explains what's happening to him, and the illnesses of the people around him are dealing with.
Personally, this wasn't depressing at all. Emotionally, it was shallow. The MC becomes resigned with her fate like she doesn't realize there's an option two. Run for your life?
I-I just saw the comments about this being depressing and I thought this would be like Jin or the other edo era stories I read about prostitution, and I thought I was going to have a good time. But this MC can't see the forest for the trees.
I assume this is a oneshot.
Though, to be fair, I want to see this story continue. And I want to see her get a better life with Shouhei who seems to also know of the future.
Dangit! Get married you two!
Nope. There should be a method to make far more money off of her cell phone and the cloth she is dressed in than from prostitution. And venereal diseases (let alone exposure to other diseases) at the time was staggering.
Prostitution has serious health consequences even today.
Looks like someone didn't paid enough attention in the history classes or never watched a historical TV drama. The naivety of those time traveling MCs always astounds me. It's like they have no self-preservation instinct.
another poor victim claimed by truck-san....
how does the phone still have battery even after 2 months
man this is depressing as hell
