Description: Sakura Gari is a Taishou Era romantic story, ten years in the making. It centers around the 16 year old Tagami Masataka as he is aiming to find his place in life. While attempting to start prep school as a rounin he encounters Saiki Souma, the son of a distinguished noble of the Saiki Koushyaku family and becomes part of the Saiki household.

It seems as though this will be the story of Tagami's life, taking us through both him growing up physically and emotionally.

soo beautiful...

Souma didn't die he was making plans for a tea party in the tree...furthermore the buttler would kill him? Of course not. he knew that Sakura loved him( as a brother) and wouldn' d like to see his brother suffering in prison or dead( in begginning yes, but towards the end it was clear, he loved Souma and suicided thinking he killed his brother).

Souma loved Masataka so deeply that let he go. He was stuck by all his bad deeds and planned to confess to the detetive (but was stopped by the buttler) he couldn't let Masataka see him like that, he wanted free Masataka for persue his dreams.

Even so, Masataka is sure that someday they would meet again...

Yuu Watase mentioned that it was meant to be an open ending, so it's up to the reader to decide. She did hint that Souma wouldn't die easily, though. I agree that it's a beautiful series, I can't stop reading it again and again. I'm really wishing that it gets publicized here in the US so that I can have an actual hard copy. :(

Anom: It's meant to be an artistic sort of ending. You can either think of it as Souma dies, or Souma lives, but either way, everyone is able to actually move on, being saved in one way or another.

Masataka is saved by Souma, who assured him that he really isn't an unwanted child, but someone beloved and deserving to live. Souma is saved by Masataka, who forgave him and gave him strength to forgive himself for his wrongdoings and guilt of his stepmother.

Souma lets Masataka go because he knows that it would be better this way. Masataka would be able to pursue his career, and live a happy life. He loves Masataka, and he knows that if he keeps Masataka near him, there's a chance that 1, they would be outed publicly and punished, or 2 he would never let Masataka go, making Masataka miserable. It's a stepping stone for him since all he kept thinking about was desperately how to keep Masataka by his side.

But now Souma won't have anymore nightmares, because in the end, all is forgiven, and he knows that if he loves Masataka, he has to let him go and have his freedom.

I'm not going to go too much in depth with this, because some things are there, you just need to look at the details.

This is a very thorough piece, so you have to read more into it, and maybe re-read the manga and the extra details that the scanlators mention, such as things involved in the Taisho era.

I really enjoyed this manga. To me, this is Yuu Watase's best work yet. It's subtle in some ways, tragic, horrifying, beautiful. I couldn't stop reading it.
wait...........WHAT?????
So confused with the ending..........
