I mean, yeah, there are two paths for this to go.
1) They skirt around the fact that he isolated an ill child in a cruel world for either poor reasons or horrible reasons. Here, everything that happens in the first chapter was just contrivance(not that that's a bad thing exactly). Her illness was purely there for the purpose of nurturing her curious personality. And the dude suddenly ditching her was purely so that he wouldn't expect her to suddenly be a waifu. These plot points will be plot devices rather than concrete turning points in these characters' lives. And like I said, this is fine if the author doesn't feel like focusing on that. But toothpicks are definitely going in my fingers if this is the case because I seriously, seriously hate that guy. More than the guy that causes this

I think it might be because I had the unfortunate luck as a child of becoming best friends exclusively with people that move away within the next year. Every time. And when I see this guy putting this girl through what I went through for NO REASON, it just makes my blood boil.
2) They acknowledge that short of the Clannad style wishing well, an anime poor constitution is probably fatal. And they acknowledge that this guy is the worst thing since mecha Stalin. I admit that I am biased in this case, but I do think that plot points actually having consequences throughout the story is a better idea.
This is pretty cute.
I like the small details. Like how in that one panel he tells her to quit with the explanations and in the next when he's talking she's in the background looking sad.
Also, her and the girl from Black Torch shop at the same store.
even if I found the guy did a dick move and still isn't as good as before, I wouldn't like if they go that route (the series is cute and still don't like that people are mentioning Your Lie in April (stop trying to kill the cute girl!!)
I kinda prefer the cliche approach of the one shot, but they could have combined... like the guy moved and there he went into more of a less sporty and prefer to be at home style, and meeting her again helps him make him more outgoing ... cliche af, but good and helps not hating the guy going out to catch bugs only because the girl is hot ¬¬
well, there is series like GATE that is clearly a military propaganda or Tiger&Bunny that it was one big ass sponsor series (a good one too) ... there's other that focuses on places, doing particular activities, etc.
it wouldn't be that weird with their low birth rate.
But on top of that, he completely abandoned her for supposedly 3+ years just because he was embarrassed to be around a girl. Despite knowing full well that he is one of the few people that she can call her friend.
Basically, this MC in my mind has committed several magnitudes of greater sins than say, for example Kousei or Jintan ever committed. So I'm hoping to god that this asshole suffers misery equal to those sins.
Just imagine that timid, kind, ambitious little girl sobbing into her pillow, facing the truth of how truly alone she is in this world now that her only friend has left her out to dry. It just makes me so mad...
If this guy doesn't go through an Ishida Shouya level redemption arc, I will shove toothpicks into my nails.
Place your bets
truck kun or cancer kun
who's excited for every trope in the book now that we had our 2 unique chapters?scratch that
I just saw the raw for ch3, this author isn't braindead
Isn't that how this usually ends in?
I had re-read the one shot since everyone here said the MC is a little bit different. Now, I understand the difference.
Guys I have a conspiracy theory that japanese government is secretly sponsoring mangas/LNs that are supposed to turn the 25+ millions of japanese omega males into people.
Or not. Hanlon's Razor.
She's so pure
These color pages are absolutely gorgeous! Saguri is such a cute, bubbly character; I'm glad she can bring Mutsu out of his shell a little bit
True, but he was a kid, so you can kinda forgive him for that.
I wished they kept the MC's personality from the one shot. He is more of clique Romance MC now.
So, this gave me the feeling of a more Subdued Dagashi Kashi with a slice of life feel instead of high speed comedy. Actually a better comparison would be the recent Misoshiru De Kampai just with exploring as the theme. That actually feels nice
Now I hope it doesnt betray that trust with stupid romance cliches like love-rivals or misunderstanding tropes. Just two childhood friends going exploring the vast unknown together and getting closer together eventually becoming a couple. Nice and simple.
Those are some pretty erotic exploring clothes there.
come on ... the story started cute and she feels better don't say things like that ... I don't want to feel sad from this type of story anymore u.u
Oh so this DID become a series? Well I'm glad. Let's see how this goes.
I hope this won't turn into another Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso mmm...
I mean it's beautiful and all but my heart can't handle it mmm...
To stop seeing a sick friend for that reason is kinda a dick move I guess so I won't disagree there, but the one-shot was kinda cliche and safe. I wouldn't dwell on either one as long as the story doesn't.
inb4 she dies at some point in the manga.
Screen shot this shit.
The fmc acts exactly the same way; it felt like only her status in the school was depicted different. In the 1shot, we didn't even see the normal students admire her as she's walking or anything like that, speak nothing of her running around being genki looking for the mc in the school.
We may still actually get that in the serialization anyway, once we see her in a school setting.
The mc was a lil better in oneshoot, but the FMC was not as good, with the usual idol school statut.
It's better like this.
