Extremely well written manga by one of the real masters. It's pretty dark, and definitely not "feel good," but allows us to feel the emotions of victims of oppression, assimilation, and genocide by a large hegemonic power. DON'T read it after watching "Grave of the Fireflies," or similar things. You'll be too depressed.
Definetely worth a read if you enjoy Studio Ghibli's grand yet simple tales.
Fellow Nausicaä-fans may also recognize the name of the city "Pejite"...
