I imagine that Riel's brother is pretty incompetent without magic and that he's focusing on finishing the spell as of now, while Riel's only advantage would be in a pre-summoned sword that won't be that effective against a revolver unless she can close the distance between them real quick.
Also there's a chance that bitch maid either laid traps there in anticipation and/or ran away when she had the chance.
