so things like this are considered as seinen nowadays? meh

The shojo/shonen/... classification is rooted solely in the magazine a manga is published in, and the target audience for that magazine.

RMA is published in Young Magazine the Third, which is a monthly seinen. Therefore it's a seinen.

Am I the only one who finds the girls eyes really creepy?

This manga's premise is extremely flawed from the outset.

First, it places Classical Music on a pedestal above all genres of music. Music, as with any art form, is subjective. There is not one genre that trumps the other, instead it should be seen as a continuity of pieces that has continued to influence each other over time. However, the author puts Classical music on a pedestal that it doesn't deserve. It's seen with the comparison of the elegant Kanade to the slacker Otoya. Denying artists like Jimmi Hendrix or Mick Jagger the same place as Franz Schubert or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is disrespecting music as a whole.

Second is that it puts Mozart as the greatest composer ever by giving his "alternate being" to the protagonist. Look, I understand how much of a genius Mozart is, but holy crap is the love for Mozart strong in this. And besides, Schubert is also known for pieces that helped lay the foundation of the Romantic period of music. Putting him as the antagonist of the chapter paints him in a sour light that is beneath his stature.

What it seems like to me is that the author wanted to write a JoJo or Bleach ripoff. "What sort of everyday concept can I make into an everyday shonen battle manga? Oh, I know! Everyone has a special Stand--er, Alternate Being that is activated by...." At this point I'm sure that his playlist was blasting off some Figaro. "By Classical music! Oh man, I sound so original and clever!"

I'll keep reading just to see where this goes to, but if you want to read a music-based manga, go read Soul Catchers instead.

Flawed is your reasoning. Sorry, but there's not one trace of Classical music favoritism in this one. What we have here is some sort of promotional work, for classical music. A Boy who holds a lot of misconceptions(too many, if you ask me) about Classical music, is suddenly forced to listen to it, to survive. It's about opening one's mind for classical music.

Nowadays many people hold such misconceptions, having never listened to Classical music, but still badmouthing it. I'd say is a refreshing kind of story, using JoJo and Persona elements.

Hahahahahahaha!, Look at that name! Insta-follow.

... Is it strange, i just read Rock me Amadeus, while listening to Rock me Amadeus?

As a music lover myself, I will say I don't think you need to take the manga about the anthropomorphised catalogues of classical musicians battling each other too seriously. Just using the mention of Jojo, I really wouldn't think Araki thought that the bands Dio and REO Speedwagon are the greatest of all time. It was probably just an arbitrary decision. He could have used Bach, Chopin, Wagner, Handel or even someone more contemporary like Holst, least we forget not everything thought to be "classical" music was written before the industrial age. I guess my point, if I can put it succinctly, is chill bro, it's only manga.

The appeareances of this entities is all like:

"Sir, I'm most compelled to do battle, but if we have time may we have tea time later?"

"I'd be most pleased, kind sir"

This manga's premise is extremely flawed from the outset.

Again...another rash user forgetting or completely ignoring the genre tags and proceeded to give nagative comment. Well, not everyone is into music and as you had said, there are many genres of music, and this isn't being clever on the author's part. Can't you think of it as a promotion for classical music? Seriously, your references to various name of some people which I had no idea who they are, except Mozart(yeah, I'm not a big fan of music in general)

This shows that you are pissed off just because your supposed favorite musician(?) is cast in a bad light and then trying to prove that this manga is flawed when it is a Sci-fi(science fiction), the author have the freedom to express his ideas. And don't go suggesting other titles when you can't even distinguish between a Shounen and Seinen manga. Thank you.

Classical music combat... making fun of rock music... sounds fun

Bleach meets Musical Composers

Works for me.

Is that you, Griffith? I'll read one more chapter and see if I like it. Music isn't my thing, really. I'll see how far the author takes the music angle.

"Music is power." Sounds cool to me.

Im not sure how i feel about amadeus's  butt, reminds me of one of those superhero costumes from the back but hey ill give it a few chapters or so maybe it will grow on me

As a lover of classical music, this manga is entertaining,to say the least. Can't wait for more.

Wow that was quite something.
