Soon we'll have caught up to the start of the anime!
c.23
So the anime started from Volume 5? Cutting all of this buildup between Ryuji and Jun was a mistake.
....it would have been kinda funny if they just died here, during a practice match.
I wonder what's next...
Keep up the good work HappyScans!
Oh I finished reading Ashita no Joe well before I posted my last comment. Good to see this one's back, as Ippo hasn't gotten much more interesting since then.
What about Joe?
It's nice to have another boxing manga to read. Ippo has gotten kinda dull lately.
My thoughts exactly, Ryuu...
I can't believe this was published in the WSJ for almost 5 years... xD
And also it seems that Tooru Fujisawa and Kurumada went to the same kind of schools XD
Thanks for the chapter, guys!!
Ch.16:
FFFFFFFFFFFFfffffffffffffffffff kkkinn cliffhanger !!!!!
Thanks for the chapters, HappyScans!!!
He won the battle, but lost at love.
...and the stench of foreboding doom wafts in the air...
>tearjerker scene
>suddenly this
lol
Pretty much, things get pretty over the top.
Saint Seiya the boxing?
Ring ni Kakeru...!? ...in Batoto!?
Wow... came cause of the beautiful cover... and found where the train wreck crossed the trauma conga... so many things happenning all at once... that horrible step father... so many adult fears... that kind of Tokyo... nothing like the shounen manga I'm so fond of... it was bad like what I was told beforehand... Though to be fair... lots of nowadays protagonists wouldn´t last a minute or two in this manga...
Yet Kiku was some nice surprise... The art and images that I had always gave me the impression she was some refined, shy and why not finicky/useless character (at least for a boxing manga) and she went and finished that moron of a stepfather with a combo! Well she has a lot of lose screws, but nothing that character development and retcons can´t solve... it´s only the second chapter after all...
It is Kurumada's prized manga... One that he thought worth of receiving better recognition over Saint Seiya... so let's follow it and see if he was right.

GIVE ME MOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I like that kind of old mangas I was waiting for this and still waiting for Kaiouki
Pretty interesting - I can see how a lot of shounen staples originated from this manga.
Are you a frickin' moron @ Laurens D. Ring ni Kakero is one of the founding manga for shonen series in which it established the setting of powers and abilities with the demographic of fights, comradery and strength of will. You're hating something that basically built a genre from the ground up.
