Type: Manga (Japanese)
Status: Ongoing
Description: Set in nineteenth-century America, Red is the last living survivor of a Native American tribe that was slaughtered by white men. On a long journey in search of revenge, he travels with Ieroh Itou, a samurai who ran away to America after being defeated in the Seinan civil war, and Angie, a mysterious prostitute. The bonds of friendship between the three are touching. Although it is all fiction, the story seems very real as it is based on actual battles between US troops, Apaches and other tribes.

Yep, spot on. The original run was 19 volumes, but Kodansha randomly decided to release a 10 volume print a few years back. It's slightly unfortunate in that while it has redone cover work (Which you may or may not prefer), they greyscaled all the colour pages.

Ah, that's a shame. Well, on the plus side, we still have the color pages in tact in the original set. It's always a shame when for some series only the magazine version gets the color pages, because many years later they can become pretty difficult to track down.

Based on the cover, I think this is the 19 volume edition. The 10 volume version was probably some Bunko edition or something. Either way, they would have the same number of chapters.

I can dig it!

Ooh, I have the whole series. Will still follow this since I'm interested in any translation differences.

This story is simply an epic.

I followed this here since long ago although it was empty because I've read some translated volumes before and I think that the art and the story are really interesting. I didn't expect that someone would scanlate this. This will be a long journey.

I seen raws of this manga... it's superb!!!
