| Description: | In a time and place where one’s soul can be morphed into a weapon, there are modern-day magicians called Mage-Knights. Although Kurogane Ikki is a student at an institution that trains Mage-Knights, he has no particular talent in magic and is labeled the "Failure Knight" or "Worst One." Getting way less than average marks in the scorings, he was forced to repeat a year. But with the arrival of a new head of the institution, a new rule was created: knights whose abilities are compatible, as decided by the board, must share rooms and attend practice and training together throughout their school years to bring up their abilities to the max. It is a rule to implement the absolute verdict of ability. Ikki’s roommate, Stella Vermillion, turns out to be a princess of another foreign country. Stella is a Rank A knight: the type of genius in magic who only appears once a decade. When Ikki walked in on her while she was changing her clothes, it caused a huge misunderstanding (since neither yet knew of the new rule) which eventually ended up in a duel between the two of them. The punishment (or as some might see it, the prize) of the losing side is Eternal Submission to the winning side. Forced to live the same room and practice magic together throughout all their school years, how will Stella and Ikki’s relationship evolve? I wish they would do another season of the anime.
The novels are the fucking best, I really recommend them. The manga does wierd things with the story tbh
Such a shame. I had hoped it'd at least reach Ikki's first tournament matchup. From what I read it was another epic match.
Wow, that's some character-specific exposition dump. Like all the screentime meant for character for at least single volume crammed into one manga chapter. With expositional dialogue and vague flashback even.
Unfortunately not too much of a surprise. The anime is a few years old now and the manga like the anime was just there to advertise the LN, both of which have done their job now.
Give us back Squaresoft damn it! Square Enix isn't a company, it's just a series of horrible decisions.
On the plus side, our team recently finished volume 8 of the LN.
Also, heads up for anyone who wants to google it - careful when browsing for spoilers, as even the unreleased volume 9 has synopsis/spoilers online.

The feeling I get out of it isn't disingenuous praise towards Ikky, I think Amane genuinely likes Ikky, or at the very least recognizes his "intuition" as a grave threat. Just think about it, what kind of school would select a non-combatant that has no chance of winning a "combat" tournament.
It's nothing Ikki, it's totally normal to be feeling nauseous after your own cringey monologues are thrown back in your face while your girlfriend laughs at you.
It's more complex than "just a facade", and I can't wait for people to find out why.
Shock, surprise, the nice person who praises him is actually putting up a façade! Not a bad chapter, but regrettably a bit predictable that something's off about Amane. Shounen manga don't have "people from opposing places who are cheerful, friendly and genuine." It's the friendly, humble people who'll shiv you in the night.
The ominous feeling started for me in the beggining.

To anyone following the LN - Volume 8 Chapter 12 is in the middle of editing, so it should be released... soonish.
