That was one hell of a weird ride. I just binged all of the chapters and I feel uncomfortable, yet satisfied.In any case this is way better than the anime. There is no comparison.

Pupa is akin to "Oyasumi punpun" in that it takes a concept and then twists it into a perverted spiral that is only heading downwards.

It is a harrowing, messy and tragic story, yet there is always that muddied strand of hope left in it all. I would love to see the author try making something with a bit better structure, because this has been a surprisingly interesting story to follow.

Really short version: It's a wincest monster story.

They 'do it' at the end.

 

They became one on a deeper level... note the title, 'Yume Utsutsu' and not 'Yume & Utsutsu'. The butterflies were also likely a mix of red(Yume) and black(Utsutsu).

This manga is the only one where I feel as if you should write down the events of each chapter after reading them.

Regarding the ending we learnt that everything was caused by Truck-kun trying to kill Yume, and that there are not one but two incestuous relationships in the manga. Another thing I am unsure about is whether the cannibalism is meant to be a euphemism for sex, because I don't feel as if eating your sibling alive would be less controversial than intercourse.

I continue to be astounded by how much fucked up shit the author manages to put into every chapter.

I'm starting to believe that I don't even need to write another comment for this manga, and instead just repost this one since it succinctly describes my experience of Pupa.

Maria best girl. It takes a special kind of insanity to impregnate yourself with a cosmic horror and turn into something that wouldn't be out of place in Prototype.

I think I'll just pretend that Utsutsu and his sister have become mentally Ill due to sustained abuse, and are therefor suffering from hallucinations. They are currently at a psychiatric hospital receiving whatever care they can get, while the father is being charged for multiple counts of assault and child abuse.  Somehow such a story feels nicer than the one presented by the manga, which just shows how fucked up "Pupa" is.
