I don't know why you weren't able to get the joke..
But, it was perfectly understandable to me and my friends.
The "tao po" part wasn't translated very well, in fact, the phrase wasn't even translated. And, as far as I saw, there wasn't even an explanation. Still, I enjoyed the rest though.
We already have a word for it. It's Komiks

I kind of understand when translating Jap->Eng how the joke is lost in translation.

As much as I love this, could you please show how it is read first? I mean, this is a 4-panel comic but not your ordinary comic. Baka kasi kung hindi sila Pinoy, maguluhan. Maybe, that's why the rating is low.

Though some of the humor got lost in translation, I still found it funny. Maybe because I'm automatically translating the dialogue in Filipino.
