Dropped this.

I'm not against the "asshole who has a tough past" premise, but I really don't like how most mangakas go about characterizing them.

They always feel so 2D and never do a good enough job of fleshing them out. So I never sympathize with them, even though that's what mangakas intentions are.

Here, there are some straightforward dialogue between the two leads, but it doesn't cover the really awkward transitions in between radical behavior.

Scenes felt cut so that one panel he's like, "I have no interest in her." And the next page he's like, "don't touch my woman" and kisses her.

Sure when people are under emotional tension, we do tend to do irrational things.

But there was barely any hint or buildup previously of him having good feelings for her, even moreso looking at her in a romantic light.

Starting to get along with someone is not enough to be attracted to them romantically.

There's 5.5 chapters and I feel there's more than enough pages to build up the romance better at least.

Then there's some really contrived misunderstandings that's so contrived and never even foreshadowed that the author just suddenly made it up on the spot.

Like, it's already unbelievable the two leads who only known each other for about a week, didn't get along at all, suddenly have these mysterious feelings for each other.

Add super contrived drama and it's enough for me to run away in the middle of chapter 3.

You know how some mangas are just about the super dark guy with a ton of smut, so you have low expectations on character development, and only care about the smut.

But then there's manga like these who "try" to add depth to misunderstood assholes characters, but 97% of these mangas all fail because they didn't plan things through.

That, or the editors are seriously crappy and keep this template for shoujo manga that never seem to flesh characters out. Like there a few panels mentioning their past, but there's never any realistic narration that gets me to really understand their personality or what they went through, what they're thinking, etc.

I'd pass if I were you.

dat dress

ok

Yeah.  Well, it's one of those shoujo about the poor girl who marries the ridiculously rich boy, who is isolated, spoiled and obnoxious or whatever like that.  It's a very standard example, but it does seem to have one variation I find interesting.  That is, typically the guy is in some way a "poor little rich boy" whose life is enriched by the honest emotions and social groundedness of the female lead--but normally they aren't, at least initially, very aware of any of that stuff.  They think their life is normal and look down on the heroine.

This guy is sad and paranoid and very well aware of the fact.  He actively hates his life before she ever arrives.  So that's a bit different.

So-so so far. Kind of fluffy with a dose of high strung emotions and drama. They kind of make me think of those couples that get to together when each was in a vulnerable place only to breakup down the road when they realize they don't actually know each other and that the only reason they really got together was to satisfy their own need for companionship and a sympathetic shoulder, the other person just happened to fill that need at the time. A situation where they both might care for and sympathize with one another but don't actually understand what it is to love someone.

This feels like a low grade version of Hapi Mari

For people who have a lot of psychological and emotional issues to resolve, they're moving into this relationship pretty fast. :P

well... it needs to keep moving to keep interesting... You may think its moving too fast but we cant have everything the way we want it, and  more often than not people think romantic mangas move too slow.

why in the world does she has to pay for her family debt??? logic failed??

Because that's part of Japanese culture.  She may not be *legally* obligated, but most Japanese would agree she has to pay back her parents' debt if they can't.
