This happens all the god damn time in comedy mangas. Little bit of serious story happens "ERMAGERD where mah funnies go? Dis drama naow!". Or monogamous hetero romances that just happen to have more than 1 female in the cast "LOOK ders 3 of them! dis a harem!".

Like, for real. Gender bender is an umbrella term for anything that transcends any kind of gender normality in an anime or manga. Like a body swap with someone of the opposite sex, or a sex change through magic or pseudo-science, or cross dressing, or even straight up literal transgender characters.
I don't understand why some people feel it necessary to create their own very weirdly pedantic definitions for the term and then debate others over it.

I feel you have a a fundamental misunderstanding of both the definition of gender bender and basic logic as well.
Gender bender doesn't mean gay, there's more than enough cross dressing and gender confusion to warrant the tag.
Also it didn't turn into anything it's been obviously hetero since the beginning. (see: the genre tags)

Just to let people know, a new chapter (no. 24) has been released in raws on Pixiv. The author mentioned they were going to be taking a break after the second volume came out but that's usually code for the series getting axed. I hope this isn't the case though.

Why is that kitsune eyed "friend" such an asshole? Makoto should've just told him they were dating. If he finds out that's untrue then it's pretty obvious he's getting too close to Akira for his intentions not to be taken as anything other than those of a sexual/romantic nature. Also we're caught up to the raws now.
