There was another manga with Baku where they relieved people of their nightmares. But I've hardly seen a tapir-Baku in a positive light. Their abilities seem to have changed to eating memories too (i.e. Dark Cloud 2 and Deep Labyrinth) It's also the main boss in the original Parodius for some reason.
