Though that kinda "bear" is found in a few BL titles, usually that sort of character is found in bara: often sexually explicit manga drawn by gay men(and some straight women).

Btw, "Maiden's Road" aka "Otome Road" is the Higashi Ikebukuro district. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otome_Road

Fyi, I've had a few guy friends whose girlfriends or wives insisted on dragging them there while they buy their BL manga, games or even merchandise. But then again, who asked them to drag their gfs/wives along on their trips to buy h-manga or even eroge?
