Sadly this story ended being shorter than it was supposed to be, I think that it was quite interesting but with this short amount of chapters many questions ended unanswered and one of the few things that were accomplished was that I felt sorry for those demons (specially that last one) even if it was pretty likely that the author was going to show why such extreme measures were necessary, I hope that in the sequel we at least get to see what happened to Sasa and his "father". Thanks for your work in this manga.

For one i agree with most of this except for the last one i don't think it got axed

I'm pretty sure that it was cancelled, just the circumstances were somewhat unusual. Here is a quote from one of my previous comments:
"This manga was serialized in Comic Earth Star, a monthly magazine, and it started its run just half a year before the whole magazine ceased publication. Publisher decided to replace it with a digital only version. Apparently, Onigiri Sasa did not survive the transition."

And here are some source links.

Except it doesn't say "they're bad". You're obviously not supposed to think Sasa and the cops are heroes. The targets are clearly victims. I really don't understand how this is hard to understand. If the manga wasn't cancelled, it likely would've explored that further. Alas, we get what we get.

Edit: Looking at the comments again, people's issue with this manga seem to be that 1) the enemies are not evil and 2) the purpose of the hunts is unclear.

On 1), I actually think this is a good thing. Good guy vs bad guy is such a common trope, it's nice when a manga does something different. I liked the contrast between cheery school-going Sasa and trophy-taking murderer Sasa, to whom it was normal. There's lots of room for development there, which leads to..

2) Nothing good here, the magazine simply got axed. Six chapters is not enough to tell this story in a satisfying way, as many people agree. All we can hope for is the sequel following up.

For one i agree with most of this except for the last one i don't think it got axed more like it's the authors plan maybe next year their will be another demon hunter ________ or something though more or less at one point author needs to make a last vol. that will tie everything up or something more or less this is only an intro vol.

Srsly tho, I hate every part of this.

It's a manga with a naked picture of the protagonist as one third of it's first pages. What makes you think it's smart enough for that?

While that's the point, it answers it and then doesn't DO anything with it. I guess that's OK and maybe the sequel works on that, but I was expecting a little more than "yeah they're bad, goodbye"

Way to go cap'n.

It's obvious the author's trying to show that something's wrong, and that the readers should ask themselves what's going on. This is literally what's driving the story (aside from the pointlessly egregious fan service), i.e why are they doing this, and are they really the good guys.

So long, and thanks for all the jb

Eh. I'm guessing this series didn't last long.

Apparently the sequel is also only one volume...

I guess I shouldn't expect much from that one either...(눈_눈)

Well what a waste. The premise looks promising and it all trainwreck in 3 or so chapters.
The supposed villains just turn out to be "demons" that don't really seems to know what's going on (much like the readers) and the humans hunt them just because...

And the main character is just there, no personality whatsoever. She just do what she's told to, like a robot. Not to mention the sudden ending out of nowhere.

Giving this one 2 out of 5 stars just because a loli kicking ass sounds interesting, other than that this series (if you can call that) really got nothing, be it plot-wise, be it character-wise.

Does it has a sequel?

Onigiri Chisa

Girl shown at the end is the MC of it

I don't get it. I read the whole thing, but she didn't turn into a riceball even once.

If the author was trying to make us root for the police and the main female protagonist Sasa, then they failed.

Basically in this manga human, just like many story, is the weak race and will do anything to maintain their own peace with even by sacrificing others mmm...

The ending kinda reminds me 'The Midvich Kuckoos' by John Wyndham.

It's not about justice or moral, it's about survival of human species.

Anyhow, Dodge Town Reads, thank you for scanlating this manga and even larger thank you for also picking up the sequel.

This series may feel unfinished, because it most likely is (I've explained the circumstances in one of my comments below), but it was still fairly interesting/entertaining. The artwork in particular deserves a mention.

I also hope that Onigiri Chisa will shed some light on events that happened during those 3 years and particularly on the future of Sasa.

Second - I can call a 14-16 year old a slut if she has casual sex. That's pretty much the definition of a slut. I'm not a fan of "religious indoctrination" or "sex is bad" but there's a reason why teens shouldn't be doing it - they're idiots. But hey, this is manga, nobody ever gets pregnant or gets STDs, so whatever.

I wonder where did you get this idea. It didn't look like that to me at all.
As far as I can tell, author simply told a story without taking sides or showing preferences.

Wow... good job describing exactly what happens in the manga. Captain obvious hoooooo.

well... sometimes humans more terrible than the devil itself

I'm looking forward to the 'sequel', if anyone's actually gonna TL it~

I'm interested in continuing and translating it and working on it with my group, but I don't have full raws of volume 1, only of chapter 1, 6, and 7 (they're available online). Unfortunately I don't have a scanner to make my own raws either, so we're hoping someone would be generous enough to donate some to us~ Can contact me here or at our blog if anyone is able to. Chapter 6 just needs typesetting and it'll be up, so we'll be free to start Chisa soon. Edit: Broke down and ordered the manga after discovering a scanner I forgot I even had. Now just waiting for them to ship to Canada.

On a side note, teens have sex. It happens. Why there is so much stigma associated with it, I cannot fathom.

It's just the salt of everyone who didn't get to tap that when they were that age :V

First of all, higher purpose - no. SOME purpose - yes, please. It was pretty random and it didn't show anything. It just pandered to someone who wanted to see a random sex scene.

If that was fanservice, that was the worst fanservice ever. 3 panels, one a shot of the dude's ass, one a closeup of the girl's face, one of a girl standing outside. That wasn't a shot to titillate the audience. The panel of the Sasa bathing with her father, maybe could be argued, but I'd say that was more for shock value as well.

The school girls were presented as these cardboard cutouts you'd seen from a million different slice of life series, and that scene instantly snaps you out of that., reminding you what you're reading is completely different. It was a very short and effective contrast to the girl's initial good girl appearance,

I thought it was pretty effective in letting you reevaluate your first impressions of the girl.

Are you saying that every and single scene in a manga is supposed to serve some higher purpose? That scene was no worse than showing characters eat something together, or talk about random things, or spend their time in some other way. Just a regular slice of life kinda thing.

Also, calling a girl "slut" just because she has casual sex with a person she likes? Really? Are we back to the ages when religious indoctrination made people believe that sex is something bad and you should only have it for the sake of procreation?
