You know, I thought having a silent male character would limit the story but the mangaka manages to make the cat face so darn expressive that I find I don't miss it.

I mean, he can communicate more with one look than all of those type A bishounens combined - and he has a better personality to boot.

Ok so she went mad with loneliness and sadness so now she's projecting her cat into the "best boyfriend" persona... makes sense.

Correct me if I'm wrong:

- no one questioning the cat bf has cat head

- he almost never talk (from reader's point of view) but other character understand him (he order beverages once and the waiter understand)

- the only cat thing about him is his head

- gf once mention he is 'fluffier'

- always wear gloves

- always wear scarf

This manga reminds me a bit of Okusan. Not because of the ecchi, but because the husband/boyfriend doesn't have a face and is never seen talking.

 

It allows the author to focus the attention on different things. It's really well done here.

My theory: Cat-Dude is a mute (as in cannot speak). I know the japanese onomatopoeia for a cat sound is "nyan" or "nya" but in english (or at least american english) it is "meow" or "mew". So Cat-Dude is a "mew"t. So if I am correct this is both a clever cross-culture word play and a well done piece about how love needs no words.

 

Even if I'm wrong, this is my head-canon.
