Norimichi is in his first year in high school, and his daily life is full of being bullied. However, there is one thing in his life that he enjoys--spending his evenings making elaborate lunch boxes. The only one in his family who needs a lunch box is his father, though. One day, his father finally refuses his decorative lunch; he says that it's embarrassing to have such a cute lunch made by his son, and he thinks Norimichi needs to learn to stop doing 'girly' stuff like that.
Norimichi is devastated that his one happiness has been taken away, but the events of the day lead to him giving his rejected lunchbox to an unsociable girl at school, Umemiya. She is delighted by his adorable lunch box, and he is thrilled to be able to make her smile. Now he has an exciting new target for his creative lunchboxes, and maybe this first step can lead to something more! |

anyway i look at this, this not gona end well!
If this is chapter 36 and the MC can barely say "Hello" to his love interest then this is going to be another glacially paced rom-com. Wake me up in another 40 chapters or so.
You forgot the part where the 35 chapter prequel wouldn't match up to the series from chapter 36 (original 1) on, and how he would screw up the original chapters by retroactively changing details about them on subsequent published editions.
Also, as for starting at chapter 36... there was some sort of competition a while back where you needed to come up with a series idea and write a "chapter 100" for it. I remember reading at least one of the entries here on Batoto. It was quite interesting.

Well... techincally, the George Lucas way would be starting at chapter one but then later retroactively renaming it chapter 36 after announcing a run of 35 prequel chapters, while also announcing an equally long sequel that he would then retire before getting around to.
Honestly, though, if someone actually started something on chapter 36 that would be kind of memorable. The only things I can think of that did that are along the lines of Otter 11.

I regret not reading the comments before I read the chapter. I really didn't want to know all that about Tabe-chan and Umemiya-san as an introduction to this story.
