Description: | We start with our main protagonist, Shichimi, bidding farewell as he readies for his journey into Edo (on our Earth, Edo was the old name of Tokyo before it became the capital of Japan). His mother has just died, only leaving him a walnut and a request for him to go to his half-siblings. Shichimi bids farewell to a sternly old man, who is a firefighter. We can tell this from the symbol on his cloak. This symbol is also on Shichimi's cloak. Upon reaching the town of Edo, Shichimi meets a mysterious man, who ridicules the peace of the world as an illusion. |

Just finished reading this and LOVED it. The story progresses nicely, the characters are great (and nice variation in character designs!) and everything generally seems well thought out.
Gotta say, I was quite pleased. I only watched the Cross Game anime besides reading this work, but I think I'm turning into an Adachi fan. The way he makes the characters interact and draws their relationships is adorable. I love this kind of innocence!
I'm definitely going to read more of his works.
In my opinion, you should quit reading manga if you don't like Cross Game. I'll even be one step nicer, you can watch the Cross Game anime instead, though it leaves out a lot.
One of his best. Historical (sort of), drama, martial arts, science fiction, comedy (lots), great characters, and a thought provoking premise and storyline. I'll definitely read it more than once.
I think the tragedy tag is appropriate.
It might not shows up in the story frame, but it still important plot.
Highly recommended! If you don't read Adachi because you don't like sports, then read this one!
I read some chapters before but I was never able to finish all of them.
i don't know why but Adachi sure seems to like something smelled like incest, forbidden love, bla.... not that I completely hate it, I'm a fan of him after all, but it feels like something snapped in my brain every time I read those theme.
Great comic so far, fun characters, quick moving plot, and heralds back to ancient times when a fight didn't have to take the entire chapter(s). Definitely going to keep reading this.
