NG Life

The premise is interesting. The whole past life thing is really well done and the way it interacts with the characters and how it moves the plot is feels original. It makes up for some good comedic purposes, but also is never irrelevant, like those premises usually are on manga. It is a major plot point, always, with deep impact on the characters growth and decisions.

The characters themselves are also good, and pull their own weight. They are neither staple archetypes nor are they only there for the past/present life dynamic. The cast was actually double the size I expected at first, but none of them were disposable at all.

And the last, killer point: it is one hell of a romance! Even when considering the side characters, or the past lives. I'd say Kare Kano level with half the length.

About the ending:

P.S.: Settings are usually the weak point of manga. This is not the case. Not only Pompeii feels vibrant and immersive, and its end cruel and unsettling, the author seemed to have done her research thoroughly. I have almost no knowledge on that particular Roman city, but never have I felt it was forcing my suspension of disbelief.
