By the way, I cannot understand how such a great manga has only 980 follows on as classy a site as Batoto!!!

Shush, you want the rabble to find out about our flower garden?

Just consider your self one of the discerning few and grin. ;)

Holy crap, a new chapter.

Makes me hopeful that the manga will be fully translated by 2030. *cries in japanese*

Nice release is right.  This was one of the first manga I discovered when I found out about online reading, and it has always remained one of my absolute favorites.  It's funny and endearing, yet it also has a depth that very few manga (even "serious" ones) achieve.  I've posted before on Kobayashi Sensei's incredible use of different art styles to make a point, but he also has the ability to understate some very heavy pathos, so much that the reader does a double-take.  This may be a shounen demographic manga, but the author's ability to mix slapstick and youthful angst with real pathos and fairly unvarnished history put it pretty much in a class by itself.  In a sense, I could equate it with Charlie Chaplin's early "talkie" film Monsieur Verdoux.  Most of the film was comedy noir, but the setting and ending were anything but comedic.  Reading this, I have to put Kobayashi Jin in the same class as Chaplin and Miyazaki at their powerful best.  Thanks, SRF, for continuing to bring this to us.

Nice release!

Whoa! A new chapter. Wow. Thanks a bunch for this. Shame no one ever licensed this.

SRF, thank you for the new chapter.  This is one manga that I definitely don't get tired of.

I think considering the complexity of the dialogues I think it's better to use the Japanese raw for translation purposes...I don't know Japanese but neither do I trust the Chinese for translating into English for this specific title. I did a quick search for the Japanese raw and it seems to be easy to find, though I don't know if the file's actually still there...

We have the JP scans for all volumes, but we don't have any JP translator... Though, we try to double check with the original version on some weird parts, as we have someone who's learning Japanese, but they're not ready yet for a full translation, especially for this kind of title.

We're fully aware that translating from Chinese isn't actually the most accurate option, and we'd really be glad to have a JP translator on this series (or at least someone that could fully double check our translation with the JP version), but well, we're just getting by as best one can.

There's already a drama tag, it should be enough I think (I also gave a look to the raws).

On a side note, if you feel like helping us on translating the series (we're translating from Chinese), you're welcome :)

Just wondering whether there should be a tragedy tag or not, considering what follows in the raw it seems, or is that too much of a spoiler (i read the Chinese scans)

Awesome chapter. Looking forward to seeing how it develops now.

Finally caught up with the anime \o/

So one more chapter and scanaltion will be past anime?

Yes, that's about it. There are quite some differences between anime and manga though, but regarding the main story, the anime ends at chapter 31.

Two at once, enjoy guys :)

SRF, thanks for the great chapter.  I love Yayoi almost as much as I love Arashi.  This is one of the first manga I fell in love with when I discovered online scanlations, and it has remained an absolute favorite.  Thanks for keeping a fantastic story going.

What a lovely chapter!  Unfortunately, I can't remember how it connects to the rest, but it's still nice.

It explains how Yamashiro became the man he is in the present.

oh, nice surprise :)

Took us a long while, but enjoy guys!

Thanks SR Fantrad, I really enjoyed this chapter about Yayoi.  I really love these characters.

XYZ

lol...and i was going to comment on that XD

XYZ

Yayoi seems so innocent that I cannot help but be very worried about her :3

Yeah.  Funny at the same time to realize she's been through stuff it would be hard for most of us to imagine.
