It was a nice idea. There's a lot of, er, symbolism that I wasn't interested enough to actually decipher. But it's clearly about loss of innocence.
I'd only read Fourteen before, and Fourteen is one of my absolute favorites. This, not so much. Nothing resonated with me. I know Umezz could have taken that extra step—he did with Fourteen, brilliantly—and made Shingo's short-lived humanity even more poignant.
I don't really know where the ending left our young heroes.
I can't tell if Satoru and Marin managed to find each other or not, so... uh... Happy end...?
Oh those two, I think it rather cute two little kids in love. Anyone notice the similarity between the girl and the boy mother? Son like father right ?
It's a miracle that, despite just how contrived the plot is, and how downright idiotic the characters are at times, that I can still enjoy this manga. Fortunately, the general idea of the story, that is, a robot gaining sentience and trying to reconnect with loved ones is one that I kinda like. It's a shame that a better mangaka hasn't done something like this, but I guess Umezu Kazuo is the only one who is absolutely insane enough to do it.
geez, this is really good, like bicentennial man. I pretend the robot has robin williams voice
Hello! My name is Shingo. Can I have a banana? Eep eep.
..... And it was soo good at the beginning.
Considering the artist, it really wasn't that bad. It's a shame that this is probably a dead project, because I just wanted to see what hilariously insane series of events would follow. I'll follow it, and hope for the best.
