That's why it is not the norm in the US. Failure to pay child support is usually contempt of court, because the non-custodial parent (generally the father) has failed to comply with a court order (the order providing for child support). There are all kinds of excusable reasons for failure to pay, and most judges and courts understand that putting parents behind bars is counterproductive in most cases.

Some jurisdictions are worse about this than others, however, and indigent parents who may have a legal defense don't know about it because they can't afford a lawyer and the court isn't required to provide one.

Ch. 12 is probably the first realistic account of a hikikomori I've seen to date. Good enough, man.

Fixed some typos from the first volume, second volume will get a few typo fixes as well in the near future™.

Reviews are done annually to determine continued eligibility. Child support is not mandatory. However, most divorced fathers pay child support anyway out of pride. Plus there are social pressures that keep the payments coming. In most Japanese companies, being perceived to be an irresponsible parent can become a fatal obstacle to promotion, for instance.

That's an interesting way of doing it. I'm sure the standard cliche in comic books is not representative of reality, but it always seems strange when they show things like this. Though thinking about it, there could be plenty of reasons why the mother wouldn't go after the guy even if she could legally force him to pay.

I never said the US system made sense, I was just comparing them. Whether it's fair or not, threatening to jail someone is an incredibly effective way of compelling them to pay - if they do have the money and are just refusing. But jailing people for not being able to pay is like cutting off someone's foot as punishment for running too slow.

This title is making less and less sense. I guess it's metaphorical, but in 9 the girl never ran away from anything. She faced her problems and dealt with them directly and methodically. The character sketch of the mom in ch.8 is good; poor lass.

Her husband needs to be giving her a good solid ravishing much more often, make her feel like a desirable woman.

I know this is random but Niina really looks like the mother from Boku dake ga inai machi (Erased). If she chooses to have children of her own later on, I have a feeling she will be a good mother. Like Sachiko, she will be the type who is caring but doesn't take any nonsense.

Thought I'd make a note here, due to lack of further material (raws and translations), this series is now on hold/dropped.
Translator's anon, so I can't exactly get in contact, and there aren't raws for vol.2 out.
