I liked it quite a bit, especially the “twisted” world’s design.
The teacher provides a few plausible explanations, the foremost being about how information on objects absorbed by the grey goo may be absorbed. The father's profession also makes sense, although it is a bit of a stretch for him to be using acoustics to tinker with quantum mechanics.
That being said, I feel like the grey goo is more Lovecraftian or Titan-Esque (if you are familiar with Eclipse Phase) in nature, thus explaining some of the more frayed bits of a wonderful oneshot.

Typical overprotective father. As soon as his little girl meets a boy, he moves heaven and earth to take her away from him.

i think im too tainted to think that he will ever get to see her again, the father was a relative so he held a few possibilities. but i cant see her managing to bring the boy over
even if some of his hair was in his cap as a DNA-tracker beacon :S

Agree on all counts. Mind you, when it comes to logic in SF manga I gave up long ago. I just assume the setting is there for atmosphere, not intended to be taken seriously in terms of realism.

It felt short but it wasn't that bad.
Damn. The logic was twisted and didn't quite work out, but the emotions were certainly heartfelt and sweet. I liked it. And an interesting premise, can't ask much more than that.

This one was a quite enjoyable read in my opinion
