Description: |
Karin Sakuma is a 16-year-old girl whose idealized standards for the perfect guy have left her without ever having a boyfriend. This importance on how something looks even extends to things she buys, often without practicality in mind.
One day, Karin's mom sets her up on a blind date with Takuma Morino, a guy who satisfies all of her requirements, but she later discovers that he is also overweight. Although Karin doesn't initially recognize him, she and Takuma had once played together as kids, during which time Takuma developed feelings for Karin and asked her to marry him, to which she nonchalantly agreed. Although he asks her to marry him again, she turns him down, but Karin later tells Takuma that she wants to spend more time with him to see what will come of it. |

My thoughts on how to explain the last few pages...
Anyway, lovely manga! ♥
Just at ch.2 and one thing I just can't let slide. In class he reads out a passage in English about the wonders of the oatmeal-raisin cookie like it's the greatest cookie on earth. Oh, please! Could we get real? What, they never heard of chocolate chips in Japan?
So.... If she has sex with him, does he turn into a fetus?
HOW?????
Also excited for the taiyouXten BL manga
That was a fun read, thanks for the scans.
What may be more shocking is the final page advert...those are names I haven't seen in a while.
That's was hilarious the guys in class demanding the girlfriend to give them back their teddy bear.
I'd never be able to get thin.
I can't help but agree with you, so I added one.
*reading 8 first chapters*
yup..., this should have supernatural tag...
wish i could lose weight like that..............................
Yes. Chapter 24 is the last chapter.
is this the last volume?
Thanks for the explanation! Pretty much everything else in the two translations was the same, and the online translators I tried made gobble-dee-gook out of what Inoue said. Your help is very much appreciated!
After reading chapters 16 and 17, not only might I start believing in Holy Miracles, I feel as if I owe Karin an apology...
I must admit that Karin gained a lot of points in her favor with me in these chapters. She still has quite a ways to go to become an ideal girlfriend, but being with Takuma for several months now, she certainly has changed for the better. Gosh, I almost feel like cheering her on!
Haha! Funny that you say that but, even though I live in the U.S.A., American TV is not my thing. The last sitcom that I regularly watched was Seinfeld, which ended in 1998, so it must be a result of reading all that manga... Otherwise, I don't really disagree all that much with either your or rozzak's comments.
On another note, there was one thing I was curious about regarding the translation of chapter 17, if anyone who has read the source material might be able to shed light on...
It's satisfying market trends by providing a self-insert girl with a perfect boyfriend, while satirically poking fun at how self-serving and trashy their very existence is.
Not saying this in a taunting way, but you might have watched to many american sitcoms/romcoms.
Sure she might not be the ideal shoujo protagonist, but she is at least as honest as she can without trying to hurt others.
And lets face it, there ain't that many shoujo girls that go after the ugly guys proudly (Know a few but they were mixed with some science fiction or fantasy.)
So two very important things happened in chapter 15...
You may wonder why I'm still reading this since I don't seem to have anything good to say about Karin, but you probably already know the answer. You'd be hard-pressed to find a nicer, sweeter, more adorable, and particularly more sincere boyfriend in any of the manga out there, so it's hard not to want to follow along to see if he finds happiness in the end.
Omg.. The male lead is adorbs.... Like a cuter version of snorlax...
Karin is certainly one of the most shallow, self-centered, inconsiderate and thoughtless shoujo protagonists that I've seen in a while. I find it very hard to feel the minutest amount of sympathy for her even after 13 chapters. My biggest beef is her continued comparisons of her boyfriend to "hot" guys, even his own brother, which demonstrate just how superficial her "love" is. Since Takuma can't satisfy her hunger for "hot" guys, she should stop stringing him along, break up with him, and go find some
scumbag"hot" guy that will satiate her cravings. Takuma definitely deserves better.it got me curious enough to try reading, though =D
