Having written fanfiction, I have to agree with that. If the flame dies or hides from the writer there isnt really much to do.
There are two choices at that point..
1) Continue to write, no matter how badly it turns out.
I have to wonder how many people would burn a writer who releases work as a result of this practice.
2) Put the work on hiatus and wait for that creative fire to return while working on something else. I was told once, a writer must write. The work will take care of itself. This simply means that the story that wants to be told, that needs to be told will be told. There are stories that are excellent due to this fact. The problem is if one story isn't 'hollering tell me tell me' there isn't really anything a writer can do.
I mean, look at it this way. If in IDY's Legend of Maian, if the voices of his characters go silent in his creative mind, then there is little if anything he can do. If he tries to force it, he'll get burned, if he walks away from it, he gets burned, if he ends it forcefully he gets burned, and if the story 'stops' he gets burned. I have to wonder which is the better course. Letting it 'end' where the story could easily be taken up again EASILY if the voices of the story return, might well be better than a bad ending where the story can't really be told again. I mean, look what happened in Dallas (80's TV Drama) They got so lost, they had to turn back time and make 2-4 seasons a 'dream sequence' that didn't actually happen. (Oh god, I think I just dated myself horribly).
The problem, is multiplied when one story's voices stop, but others are bursting to get out. Hence LDY's various other works. Such as x3 and Monochrome Teito. x3 is the only one still going isnt it?
Now there-in lies the problem, BECAUSE his stories don't end or end badly, if he actually took the time to finish them it wouldn't be so bad. A good example of that is legend of maian it was going so well but then just dropped, his best stories are on hiatus which kinda sucks but short of reigniting the creative flame there is not anything we can do.
I personally dont get why there is so much hate for the author. Yeah I get most of his stories dont end well or dont end at all but not every mangaka is perfect. They all have their faults.
I cant say I hate the guy because he's settings are usually good and the art style is fantastic.
But we shouldnt shoot him down so harshly because we get that with everything not just manga but also movies, tv series etc etc
I'll take a dumb end, over a manga that isn't finished.
Wow...same reaction as me...
Ninja? OK
Boobs? OK
read the description "by the creators of Freezing." ?? nah...instant drop.....definitely
A MC that hates big breast, change him now.
Ninjas? Cool.
Boobs? Even better!
>by the creators of Freezing
well bye
I get the feeling the author was confused about whether he wanted more plot or more boobs. And that's how we got this.
I think I know what his problem is. Lim Dal Young seems to have all the classic symptoms of adult ADHD. He can't focus on one thing at a time. He can't see something through to it's conclusion. He's easily distracted by other things. And he's totally scatterbrained and all over the place. I can say this with confidence because I've had the exact same problems since I was a kid. We need to get him some Adderall XR stat!
Cover 01! seems the light novels covers haha'
This feels like a mature "copy" of Naruto:
The female main character has a bloodline limit to create demons from people (in naruto's case it was controlling/sealing demons), Ninjas embed elements into themselves to make themselves stronger (elemental bloodline limits/sage mode), their making hand signs and calling out their attack names. And she seems to be at least one of the last of her clan since she is on the run.
To be honest novel was before the manga. And IDY didn't like the ending of novel (irony) and decided to rewrite ending...But was not able to finish it at all lol
Uhoh, author of this manga definitely have commitment issues. XD Reading anyways
okay im down
From Rage mode...... to Rape mode.
do i even want to start reading this guys works...they are good but the times were he just stops....
> Tank ninja
Fuck that shit, I'm out.
Oh Im Dal-Young, I've come a long way and I will not be tempted by your shenanigans again.
Would it be too much to ask for a Im Dal-Young manga that will continue and not just stop because he gets bored of making it after just a few chaps................
I think he did end it. It just wasn't scanlated, or it was in Novel form... from what I remember, it's not looking up, believe me. It'll just ruin your view of .. his manga in general I guess?
That said.. I kind of see a little bit of every female MC in this woman MC. Stella from Freezing, the teacher from Unbalance x2, the overpowered girls from "Legend of Maian/Onihime VS", the overbearing senpai-ish feel from Koimuku.. chaotic.
who knows Im-Dal-Young has been characterized by creating stories that have good beginning half begins to miss the course of history and ends with disastrous end, hopefully this will not be the same
personally in the "normal" mode it reminds me more of Minato of Persona 3 and its Ninja mode reminds me Teppei of Iron Knight only with more age
