Why don't they just tell people that

they're not actually siblings? I mean, imo it's still rather weird for cousins to date, but whatever, they seem okay with it and all that, so it's fine. Since they don't see each other as siblings and they're not siblings by blood, why do they need to keep up the "we can't date because we're siblings!" pretense?
