Description: Magical girls - we were the ones who took out the boss of the enemies who were trying to wipe out mankind.

In most stories, that's where the story ends. Happy ending.

However, in the real world, there is no "ending".
- Mahou Shoujo Tokushuusen Asuka, Chapter 1

Due to the invasion of Disas, enigmatic creatures of soil from the land of the dead, mankind, who was on the verge of crisis, was saved by the efforts of magical girls who had obtained a mysterious magical power.

Three years later, new incidents suddenly occur, tearing apart the normalcy of the girls who had each returned to their normal lives. The saviors of humanity, those magical girls called "the Legendary 5 (The Magical Five)" now live each day fighting for their lives, even as they are trifled with by fate...

the girl in the cover looks like a silver haired Beatrice, but why a gun, when she has magical goat dudes and red and blue swords.

Literally everyone in this series has big tits(I think the artist likes drawing them or something) as everyone but Asuka's friend with glasses and the loli magical girl have been stacked for the most part. I mean look at the first page of the chapter(13) :P

And the Russian girl's seem to change size depending on the artist's mood. Maybe he was told to draw them smaller but just couldn't hold himself back?

Also, I know it's chapter 14 that's called Whiplash, but I feel like this chapter really earned that title also.
First we're at the beach, now we're in a torture room! Do you hear sizzling? It's a barbeque! Now we've got plot foreshadowing, next is sexy shower time followed by trauma flashbacks. Finally we're finishing up with a crippled girl being beaten to death by her father, angry that he couldn't sell her into sexual slavery, before his head is crushed by a giant dude stopping by to say "Yer a wizard, 'arry!"

Hot damn, Asuka, no wonder Kurumi fell for you. When you go around acting that cool, I'm surprised there aren't more traumatized lesbians clambering over mountains of corpses to reach you.

Asuka's tits are pretty large for her age.

Must've drunk soy milk from an early age

Theres like no fanart of this series on pixiv, odd.

But Empress and War nurse show up at the same time...?(well I think they were both in the scene with the box... can't remember)

EDIT: See page 7&10 of chapter 8

Minion who pobably know only fake persona and unknown girl, can be not Empress.

See page 10 of chapter 9

It just cube magic, not Empress herself.

Asuka's tits are pretty large for her age.

She probably Empress.

Finally! I was beginning to fear it'd been dropped.||
EDIT: Read the editorial page, cheers for trucking on, waterflame scans.|

Double EDIT: Are we sure Asanagi isn't involved in this?

Wow, War Nurse is hardcore.

She probably Empress.

>fan-service chapter

Meh.

>War-Nurse is a psycho and tortures a girl with no arm, guy tries to sell his crippled daughter into underage sex work, beats her then gets his head crushed

Ah, there we go.

Wow, War Nurse is hardcore.

Thank you for update.

11 in the beginning. Kurumi told us when she was fighting Abigail. 2 died on the way, 4 more fell in the final battle. However, the whole point of a plot twist like this is that everyone in-world is so focused on the Magical Five and trying to figure out which one of them could be a traitor, that it doesn't cross their minds that there were 6 other first-generation magical girls in the beginning. Abigail's reaction when Kurumi talked about it strikes me as being a clue too: she flipped out instantly. For some reason the subject set her off, as if it was something sensitive.

I'm fairly sure (at least in the way the story was presented) that there were a lot more than 11 first-generation magical girls- after all, they were fighting an international/transdimensional war, it's rather dubious only 11 magical girls were selected. Those last 11 were just the ones who: 1) were considered strong enough to join the JTF; 2) were combat-capable and not needed elsewhere at the time of the last mission; and 3) survived long enough to get there in the first place. The reason the Magic 5 became a legend wasn't because they fought in the magic war, it's because they survived it and were the ones to actually end it.

I think it's pretty obvious that it'd be something sensitive, no matter what. She saw 6 of her comrades die, which would upset anyone, and Kurumi seems particularly disposed to survivor's guilt - she can't stand being referred to as part of the Magical Five because she remembers the others who died on the way and aren't counted, which is consistent with what we know about her character. The fact that they were just brought up in passing, not even described, and then never mentioned again makes it unlikely that one of them would be the culprit, if the author is following the traditional rules of mystery.

But if the author were going for a crazy plot twist, that'd be an interesting way to go. It depends on how this plays out. He seems to be hinting very heavily that it's one of the 5, but that could just be a red herring.

Not unless they actually exposit a bit on who they were, how they died, what their beliefs were, etc. Don't forget there were 9 magical girls originally sent  to the battlefield, so at least 4 died making it to the last boss.

The artist got a bit confused with the Russian girl's boobs. On the cover they look big like most of the cast, but there's a later panel in the raws where she's smaller.

Not that I mind, both look good on her. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

In the conclusion, the outworlders are the ones, who cheeki breeki.

Allso about translation. It would be correct to write "Volshebniy ognemet". "Volshebnoye" is for use with neutral gender words.

It isn't obvious to everyone that the mastermind is one of the 6 magical girls they thought died before reaching the final boss?

Huh. That makes a lot of sense.

Kurumi is the least likely to be the mastermind, which means she probably is.

The "edgy mahou shoujo" story has already been done to death. It's pointless to deconstruct it anymore.

I don't really think deconstruction is what this series is trying to do. Mainly it just seems like the author wanted to mix mahou shoujo with a gritty military action series.

The obsession with weaponry and equipment, the discussions of political and bureaucratic machinations, the explosion porn, and of course the severed limbs and other gore all reveal this for what it is: a military thriller. It just happens to be a military thriller in a low fantasy setting.
