I don't remember a whole lot from the anime (so I can't really comment). As for dragging his friends in, he didn't really intentionally involve them, nor ask them for help in the beginning. They all made the choice to attend that school, and they did have an out to get away if they wanted. Especially Isoshima. She came simply because she wants to be with Takeshi. As for him getting in gear to save Isoshima because of that dream, that's just how he is, isn't it? She's in danger and is important to him so he's going to help her. The issue is he does not (currently) hold or is aware of romantic feelings for her. He was starting to get annoyed how attached and overplayed their little roleplay was getting, where she started openly playing the jealous lover whenever he'd talk to a girl, so he asked her for a bit of distance, which he quickly relented on because it made things awkward for both of them.

 

Really, Isoshima just needs to tell him how she really feels.

dragging his friends into something they have absolutely no idea about, ignoring them while being solely focused on his sole and slightly obsessive cause of helping Mui, even saying behind their back that they should deal with things themselves and even said he's gonna break with inoshima. then when that is done and he had the future dream, then he switches back completely and go "I will protect inoshima, i really love her". im probably exagerating and its base on the anime mostly, but he feels like a borderline psychopath with a hero-complex that is just looking for a event to be a hero and ignores everything else while doing so and it really makes this entire thing unpalatable

 

can anyone who read the novels tell me if he is any different?

I gotta say that she's really annoying sometimes though. Chapter 8 is a beautiful example of how messed up she is.

She's so weird about their relationship. Takeshi obviously cares about her, being childhood friends and all. But he really believes, at least at this moment in the story, that this whole relationship thing is just cover -- her cover, that she requested and he merely goes along with to help her out. Otherwise he would not be in this relationship. Why doesn't he see how you really feel Isoshima? Try actually fucking telling him instead of relying solely on this pretend lover bullshit to be close. Men aren't psychic, and when you're also pretend lovers, how is anyone supposed to know what's real and what's not in the relationship unless you make it extremely clear that you don't just want a pretend relationship anymore?

Really makes me sad, really. I don't hate Isoshima but I always liked Mui better. How I wish I could materialize visual novels from stories I like out of thin air, then I could just pick Mui's route. Haha.

It's quite literally the opposite lol. From the get-go Mui was only a plot device to get the MC involved with magic. Kurumi (blonde) is confirmed to be main heroine.

Really makes me sad, really. I don't hate Isoshima but I always liked Mui better. How I wish I could materialize visual novels from stories I like out of thin air, then I could just pick Mui's route. Haha.

Glad to hear that the anime's glaring omissions are an issue with adaptation rather than the original story.  For the life of me I don't get how anime studios think it's a good idea to try and condense half a dozen volumes of an LN into 12 half-hour episodes.  They'd have done better to have the "finale" be recapturing Mui's brother and the fight between Shijou and Kippie or whatever, if they absolutely couldn't get the okay to do a full season.

 

Ah well, curious how the manga will go about things, but the anime's consistent omission of things that would have been interesting and/or important to know in the first place has me kind of turned off the series at present.

the same way they think rushing through gantz and taking out everything that made the protag epic was a good idea, or taking out the little bits of plot that existed in to love ru. They are just "special" and i think quite a few of them are failed authors that think it's their chance to tell a story "properly" and thus f it up the same way they screwed their own crap up. japan has a serious problem and i think the author of the manga or LN should have full power to tell them to f off and redo an ep if they bring out something that bad.

Maybe for the anime or manga, but not for the LN. It tells a different tale altogether. Not sure if the manga will follow the same slaughtered path as the anime though.

Hell yes; Over the last few years Mui's type has been the heroine way too often.

That's quite sad because Mui is adorable.  Kurumi rather annoys me, and unless she gets a storyline soon, I prefer learning what is happening with Mui.
