From the second season of the anime on (green lupin), the target audience have been young boys below 12 on, and pink Lupin probably was meant to rival Doraemon in many ways than one for the same age bracket.
I was but a kid when I first saw the first season of the anime. The first season (red Lupin) is very close to the manga. For some very strange reason (urgency, carelessness, whateverness) , moreover, in Italy the importer picked as an ending soundtrack a song from a German fetish electronic band (if you are curious about it search YouTube for Planet O Lupin finale. It's a big WTF but it's also great and there's my childhood in that latex brooding song!)
Manga!Lupin didn't give a f*ck! The Woman Called Fujiko Mine illustrates this Lupin the best.
I'll admit, Zenigata looks way too young in the first chapter. I thought he was a different character entirely.
Yeah, the first Lupin was much more brutal. He was made gentler in the anime.
Ah such a weird chapter in hindsight. Its kinda hard to imagine Lupin getting someone killed just to escape all these years later. The first time I read this, I thought I was reading a different series.
Glad to see another classic showing up for us. Thanks, Mangoose Scanlations.
Its always mind boggling to read such retro stories.
Woah, i have the tankobons... they're just really really old.
Unbelievable! The chapter was worth just for the lines;
"You're killing our buzz fuzz. We're just trying to feel the grove." I wonder how's that is written in Japanese?
Also, they were 'beatnicks,' not 'hippies.' A true hippie would never dress in those clothes with that hair!
It is as good as everyone said it is!
Diggin' the old skool manga.
Wow, brings back memories!
