It was really good up until the ending, because

Spoiler

I liked it. It was very sad and made everything inside me hurt in a metaphorical way, but I feel like that's exactly what it was meant to do and it accomplished it really well. The art was also amazing, and I personally loved the poetic narrative, which is so over-the-top, but completely reflects the inner workings of a teenage romance and also worked great as a unique storytelling device.

Moral of the story:

Even if you meet someone you care for intensely and have a deep connection with and who you'll never be able to get over, the most important thing in life is conforming to society's boring, cookie-cutter mold and not deviating from it one bit.

Should have dumped this months ago. It's not worth sticking it out until the end, unless you really enjoy a bunch of over the top wangsting by some whiny jerk who doesn't even have the balls to step an inch outside his comfort zone for the girl he supposedly loves.

So you'd rather he make a gigantic decision that'll impact the rest of his life based entirely on his relationship with a girl he can't be sure he'll stay together with? Here's reality: teenage lovers are pretentious. They think their love is the deepest, most powerful in the universe. It's not. It's not worth all the effort. There's never any substance to it. They're drunk on the ideals, the idea of having a relationship more than anything, but at the end of the day that passion mellows out and you start to notice all the small things about your lover that just irritate you. The stuff that you never noticed before because you were so "in love" starts to stick out like an ugly pimple. And it builds up as time passes. Most people break up with their first, because it's a new experience and no one is ready for it. Thinking idiotic, irresponsible, reckless things like "we'll be together forever" and then making life impacting decisions based on those things are not the way to live. Teenage love comes and goes, you move on, then you find someone else, because real life isn't as idealistic as a teen's manga.

Finally... now I can read it while listening to the album... There's a small bonus (not really significant, but it made me feel better, talk about denial) in one of the album's illustrations.

I love love calendar I hope u guys can continue it please and if u need any assistance I gladly help

I guess that's it.

It was good while it lasted, thanks to cafe for this.

Hey man, this is the great Nippon, son. His career path is way more important than some mere girl. With all the fat bank he's making now, he can just buy himself a few chicks when he's feeling lonely for the wonderful girl that he dumped 8 years ago.

This is really touching... and honestly both heart wrenching and so fluffy at the same time.... I'm really sad when they started to drift apart but then, the ending is... the ending is.... uweeegh

I really really suggest you to read this while listening to the Album! like YOU HAVE TO! the mood is just right, it swings your emotion left and right

They don't have to get back together for me, but give some closure please, not this.

Spoiler

I'll admit, I prefer more flowery endings over endings like this, but I won't say it's entirely bad.

I read the first few chapters  many months ago and decided to put this manga on hold, and then I saw a chapter with [END] today so I decided to just check it out. Seemed a decent finale (better than that Shinkai anime, at least), but somehow it's made me uninterested in reading all the chapters I skipped. Meh, I suppose that's one less manga in my backlog.

That ending gets a big, fat 'meh'.

I don't really get why people are so disappointed by the development of the story. I pretty much liked it, it is very reallistic. (Plenty of spoiler from now on)

In short: I liked it very much.

5 Centimiters per second

The ending is almost the same, including the snow, the train delay and all that follows.

Only the finishing sentence is different.

Eh, I don't know. It feels like the manga ended prematurely. Maybe the mangaka had to end it because it didn't sell well? In the middle of it suddenly the pace has started to be haste and the manners of the narration has changed too - from dialogues to inner monologues. Shame, because it had a promise of the maturer manner telling the same high school love.

Yay. Another manga that started promising and fun, turned to absolutey shit and garbage. I regret getting invested into this...

Well, that certainly took a turn for the feels trip and then disappointment...

The male mc is incredibly immature. Doesn't hurt to just keep contact as friends and hope for the future you know? Heck, if he really cared and work hard for LDR, he could've just waited a year and apply for a Uni at Osaka to stay with her. But nope, let's just be immature and break all contact...LOL. Wtf logic. Yea, LDR is hard but it's not the end of the world. Jeebus.

WTF kind of ending was that!? I'm not even completely sure if they actually meet at the end there, or even get back together! It's so unsatisfying!

Well okay then. That was a bit disappointing.

Kouki! Get yer shit together!

I totally sympathize with him though. Long distance relationships are hard and almost never stand the test of time, no matter how strong that initial attraction is.

I managed to keep a long distance relationship alive for almost five years before it finally took its toll on us. We were engaged and everything before going long distance, but distance is something incredibly hard to overcome. It's full of optimism in the beginning until you really realize the fact that you're now living completely separate lives (cue Kouki here).

I actually hope this distance thing gets worked out soon. I know they wont fall apart from this, but I liked them being together a whole lot more.

Kouki! Get yer shit together!
