So, her first century ride, and it's even an imperial century, rather than metric! Super impressive for a newbie rider like Ami. But one of the things I noticed this time around that I missed watching the anime is the guy controlling groups. Dude was a giant douche holding her up like that. Splitting a group at the start is never cool, as it's not like one extra person is going to overcrowd the track that badly.

Nah, you hit a pothole like that, you're lucky to not blow the tire out regardless of how inflated you have your tubes. Add in the fact that she hit it at speed and a flat is a foregone conclusion.

Well you got me there. I was sure she wasn't going that fast because... well, stationary images I guess?

That's what I mean. Her tube bursted from being over-pumped and making contact with a pothole. It is as you said and applies on perfectly paved roads, but I personally keep my weight in mind when pumping because I can't predict the state of the roads I ride in (not a very bike-friendly country.) Like this, it gives me a bit more leeway when the roads are bad and I wasn't expecting them to be.

Eh, not really. For one thing, you've got it the wrong way around; lighter riders can run lower pressures, not higher. Second, while weight is a factor, it's hardly the only one, and of the things to consider isn't even the most important. Road surface is arguably more important, as on a dry, fresh pavement you'll want to run higher pressures than normal to reduce your contact patch and rolling resistance for a smoother, faster ride. In adverse conditions, you'd run less pressure for more contact with the road to improve grip and stability. Same goes for rougher roads; less pressure improves handling by allowing the tires to soak up more of the bumps and ruts.

Thanks for translating this series! ( ^_^)   Out of all the cycling manga/anime (i.e. Yowamushi, Noririn, Minami Kamakura...), I kinda feel that this has the most realistic depiction of what it's like to get into road cycling.  You're either cycling, thinking about cycling (and dat gear) or eating. XD

Yes, I also think this series is the best cycling manga. Minami, I read manga and watching anime, but I feel lack of cycling, it just like a normal school day manga with a addition cycling.

I want to get back on my bike... the sun staying around longer, but not piercing the rain yet (Ill Have to make do with snow in the mts ;P)

Pumping to max capacity... is an advice I would never give. Weight of the rider is an important variable, and most TL tires/inner tubes have a bar/PSI capacity expressed in ranges for this very reason.
Unless Ami weights literally nothing, she shouldn't pump to max capacity.

Considering that Ami is doing long distance riding with a folding bike.. Ami's a beast...

baito, baito, baito!

She got a Focus Culebro, huh?

I miss mine. Bought it on 2013, it was amazing as my first road bike. Sadly, some punks pointed a gun at me and took it away around 1 and a half years ago. In retrospect, I shouldn't have tried to avoid traffic at night using small, dark alleys.

if you want to wash your bike, wash it the right way

Spoiler

I think you uploaded a duplicate volume 2 extra instead of the one about Hinako's job.

Also thanks for working on this.

The Pontiac Firebird.... wut.... Seems the author is a bit of a car junkie.

That's where you are wrong, mate. Do yourself a knowledge journey, google 'Pontiac Firebird bicycle' or [insert car brand] bicycle and be amazed.

for example

OMG I love you! ty for doing this.

kinda of give a better feeling, the anime had too many unnecessary pauses and overexagerated things. In here Ami looks way more stupid though.

God damn finally.

I just hope we can get caught up to raws.
