What, the author was in trial? Will this jeopardize the chance for Log Horizon's third season?

he's still writing novels, last i heard he was on house arrest or probation. one of those , i forgot and dont fell like looking it up right now.

Isn't the author still in jail for avoiding taxes? Or can you still write stories in prison like Gucci Mane makes mixtapes?

What BucketHat said, and also that doesn't affect any spin-offs. So the Go East storyline, at least volume 9, is already complete, so Kou has stuff to work with for a while. The WWB and Nyanta's Fortune Recipes manga were similarly unaffected.

With NHK, who was their primary sponsor for seasons 1 and 2, quite likely. After all, NHK is a government-sponsored channel, so it wouldn't be good if such a channel promoted a person found guilty of tax evasion. However, I also know little about the Japanese court system, so I can't say how things will play out several years from now. It largely will depend on Mamare's behavior from now until October.

Mamare was under house arrest for a little while, and was recently found guilty of the charges brought against both him and his company. He's since managed to pay back everything owed, but is currently on probation. Mamare won't face his three prison year sentence as long as he doesn't break the law again in the next three years.
