That is a lot of reading, if you read this, is the story(ies) good enough to read (all of) it?

Oh, and then after all of that, read "The Lady of Pharis" manga. If you want to read it earlier, read it at least sometime during your watching of the second half of "Chronicles."
The anime is fantastic, Meow Zorg; I don't know what you're talking about.

Also, this isn't based off the anime; this first 8 episodes of the first anime (the 13 episode OVA) is a loose adaptation of "The Grey Witch" storyline in Lodoss. The second anime is an adaptation of "The Black Knight's Ambition" and the "War of Kardis' Resurrection" storylines (incidentally, the last 5 episodes of the first anime were also adaptations of those two storylines).

However, this manga is an adaptation of the "Demon of Flame" storyline, and takes place between "The Grey Witch" and "The Black Knight's Ambition." Also, if you watch the second anime, they reference the events of this one storyline almost as much as they reference the events of "The Grey Witch" storyline, both of which might be confusing if you only watched the OVA prior to the anime, since the OVA skipped over this, and changed key details of "The Grey Witch."

I recommend watching the OVA as a loose, theatrical adaptation of sorts, but then for the other media:

1. Read "The Grey Witch" manga
2. Read "Demon of Flame" manga (this one here)
3. Watch the first 9 episodes of "Chronicles of Heroic Knights." Yes, that includes the first episode of the second storyline.
4. Read "Deedlit's Tale" manga (it actually is various stories that fit in various places in the timeline. You'll get it all if you read it at this point, however.
5. Watch the rest of "Chronicles of Heroic Knights."
6. Ignore the "Chronicles" manga; or read it as you watched the OVA - it's non-canon and very different.
7. Watch "Rune Soldier Louie" and prepare for a 180 degree reversal in flavor to the funniest story in Forcelia.
8. Ignore "Legends of Crystania" anime; it sucks. Read the manga if you can find a translation of it though. It picks up with the surviving "villains" where Chronicles left off.
9. Read the new light novels that haven't been translated that feature Spark several years after Chronicles. Supposedly these also explain what happened to Woodchuck between "Grey Witch" and "Chronicles."
yum, want to read this for awhile. But the anime looked so bad /:
