Wow... it's been 5 years... and somehow it was on my follows list...
Anyone else notice that, the further the series goes, the more Futaba's 'nekomimi' stand out? Chapter one, she had normal hair and she just went more neko with each passing page after their first appearance. I swear, by the end of the manga, she'll have full blown, real nekomimi and a tail!

Shounen means target audience is male within the marketed region aka japan and nearby asian countries. This manga actually has many things that appeal to males.
Comedic shoujo ai tends to be targeted toward the male audience. Also stories about high school girls doing random stuff without much drama or romance tend to be shounen. Also theres quite a bit of fanservice for shoujo ai lovers. Last but not least the cast is almost entirely female, another thing that is common in shounen manga.
This manga pretty much screams shounen. How is it not shounen is the better question.
