Born with a weak body, he has no endurance, speed nor strength and Hiroto wants nothing more than to be a hero. Fate teases him by giving him phenomenal eye sight, which allows him to see well beyond anyone else in sports, but his body is not able to react to any of it.

He learns from his friend Shiratori, who wants to recruit him for the Kendo team, about a rumor about a ghost named Tojo Sayuri, who wields a katana and haunts an alley in the city. Half curious, Hiroto goes there only to find that the ghost is real and that Tojo Sayuri has been looking for a successor to her Sakura sword style for 150 years. Sayuri chooses him as the successor after being able to dodge her attack and forces him to learn the Sakura style. Even with the help of the ancient swordsman ghost, Hiroto has to overcome his poor motor skills in order to be the hero he always wanted to be.

They could have at least mentioned facing Rakuyou?

It's just too bad this got axed. I really liked reading this back when it was being serialized.

Urgg , That end ... Too bad it was such a good manga.

Nice

Unfortunately, in the end, the strongest sword in Japan never had a chance against the axe of Jump

A shame this was axed. I really quite enjoyed this series.

The art was quite good and I had become quite fond of all the characters. I really wanted to see more.

Probably the thing I most regret not being able to see more of is the relationship between Kurogane and Sayuri. Every scene they were together really warmed me heart.

Alas nothing will come from my regrets, but I still quite enjoyed the series. Thanks for the work everyone who tled this series.

I'm totally blown away by this series... I'll be the first to say I really do dislike this kind of series. Sports stories are just something I cannot get into. But something about this series caught my eye, maybe it was the whole concept of Sayuri, but it really engaged me. As for the ending and the romance, I think I'm not disappointed that much by this as much as I thought I would be since I really do like that part of stories. The abruptness is unfortunate, but the fact that it got an end at all is a good thing. In fact, I really quite liked the final chapter, and I'm really glad that Sayuri is still around at the end.

Feels...

TRADUCETELO PRESTO, PER FAVORE!

Dang, didn't expect chapter 70 is the final chapter. I was like, chapter 68, ok good good, chapter 69, great great, chapter 70 [End], wth.....

...it...got axed...WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??!! SO MANY AXED MANGA NOWADAYS, ITS EAITHR THE MEDIA GOT NO SENSE FOR GOOD MANGA OR THEY ARE SIMPLY F*CKED UP. T^T i wanna moooooorrreeee.

And in the end, I don't think Yodaka and Kamiya ever had that duel lol. So much for being friends. It's a shame Yodaka never got a rematch with Kurogane either. :/

So many future potential fights that just got glossed over. Oh well, its been a while since I've enjoyed a shounen manga so much. :3

.

Aaaa... and I wanted to see the fight between Yoroizaka and Kurograne... T.T

loved sayuri's character >.< , its somehow similar with "return of the condor heroes" - student x master romance

but really, the romance part feels so incomplete..

It was an OK ending, I just think the side characters didn't get much of an ending.

For example:

Spoiler

I also find it ironic that a "sword" fighting manga got "axed."

As others have said, the romance wasn't the main point of the manga, but that's no excuse to half-ass it. That confession gave the impression that Hiroto was no longer in love with Tsubame, but I didn't get the feeling that he loved Sayuri either; so what am I supposed to think?

Other than that, it was a nice ending and the manga is good overall.

wow, she took two years to confess, and hiroto was dense through the whole thing too (and still is), well, the romance was never the main part here, at least the scene with the kouhai was nice.

wait... was that one page a shidou x ebana pairing?! (shidou was looking a bit girly in a few panels too)

the meh conclusion of a meh manga.

I agree that the confession was a little awkward. Perhaps the author would have been better off just saying that they had already started dating. The scene of him training the kouhei was good though and overall came off as a solid finish if not for that confession. Then again it's a rushed finish so better a bad confession than a open ending with nothing resolved.
While this never felt like a great manga, it did go 8 volumes so the author should be proud. I wish him good luck and hope to see something interesting from him in the future.

man, that was one odd epilogue. somehow.

At least we got one. Most axed series don't have that luxury.

Dat confession. Let's walk home together -> I love you -> what next, phone call tonight w/a proposal?

man, that was one odd epilogue. somehow.

Very nice series wrap-up.

I bet he still can't win against Yodaka or whatever the sword saint's name...
