One thing I never felt was kuranosuke's romantic pull towards tsukimi. With the way the story was written, it just felt like he was projecting his insecurities onto her and forcing a romantic image of her in his mind. Like a friendship masquerading as romance. The overseas fashion arc could have had huge growth potential for tsukimi, separating her from the control of kuranosuke and providing a venue to unleash her creative energy and stand on her own. In the end, they needed her more than she needed them, but the author made it into a weird rescue the princess quest. After that it just felt rushed.

The final fashion show was nice though, with the brother pulling through using his knowledge rather than money or influence to prepare the perfect stage. It wasn't as if a normal person couldn't use it as a venue. The reveal of sensei was a pleasant surprise. Although it was unusual for him to be a bl mangaka having a crush on the landlord, it was just another quick that comes with being an amar member. (though I might be mistaking him for jersey's cousin)

Tsukimi doesn't seem to be interested in dating anyone, but the brother has a far greater semblance of a romance than kuranosuke does. It was a tad disappointing that they didn't include a couple chapters with the new daily life of the amars, like a 4koma or such, but its good that it ended normally.

i like the ending... although i feel like it can be done better by adding few chapters or so...
all in all the ending is great...

well....the ending was kinda....rushed? I think the author have lost the passion of it after working on another project, oh well at least we can get the ending

thank u sensei and thank u scanlator-san for this funny manga ^^

PS : my fave char is the prime minister ^O^ (and Mr. Fish but still prime minister is the best XD)

eehhhh...I have some problems with this ending. It has some good points though; I like Kuranosuke seeing his mother and being in shock, it feels like a touching moment. I like the idea of 'normal girls' getting to wear the final fashion and being a little more themselves rather than having a forced make-over.

I like the 'slight' confession of Kuranosuke (but there the problem starts though...) Also I like the idea of Tsukimi deciding these beautiful but comfortable clothing not to doll up beautiful people with, but rather with the purpose of wearing it herself. Tsukimi gets some agency on the design department and stands on her own, something that has been built up pretty well in the series.

Also I KIND of like that reveal of Mejiro-san. That was maybe dumb, but so offkilter I sort of laughed my *ss off, and it fits with the whole 'offkilter' ness of all the quirky characters at amamizukan.

But on the other hand, what I don't like, and makes the ending SO STERILE, is the resolve when it comes to Tsukimis lovelife.....and I think the main cause is the writer not being bold enough to change Tsukimis resolve. Formerly Tsukimi had been this passive object being dragged along, never deciding on her own for the most. She was forced into the whole rollercoaster of designing clothes and changing her life by Kuranosuke, and concerning her lovelife; shuu fell in love with her and decided upon himself it was a good idea to propose to her, while she was mainly flabbergasted. While her passivity has changed into activity when it comes to clothing, it never changed concerning her feelings of love, despite of all the inner monologues and pondering she has been going through. So it feels like she never really 'FEELS' anything in order to decide because of her passivity. Sure it's defended upon with Kuranosuke hinting she might not be ready and it will take time to choose 'one of them'....but honestly when keeping in mind this is supposed to have CLOSURE, it isn't his friggin place to conclude she isn't ready. She should conclude it herself in that final chapter.

Her departure to Singapore seemed to have been the ULTIMATE invitation for her to somewhat become aware of herself in relation to her lovelife, but in relation to that mainly her self-esteem concerning her lovelife; is she good enough to be loved that way and to allow her own feelings of love? She has been pondering over how it works through these inner monologues for a while. But it hardly gets to be shown in actions.  Here' the situation by being brought to Singapore, removed from her familiar nuns and parenting Kuranosuke should have been the onset of some of her maturation on that department. Especially seeing the details of Fish suddenly forming another threat in the form of love by kissing her in the pool, and clearly being a sexually devious person in later chapters through Wayoungs tellings. And ofcourse the shower scene before Tsukimi leaves, where she panics and tries to see Kuranosuke as a princess and not a man. These are plot elements that really invite her to mature a little on that prospect, to get to know her limits and to get to know where she feels love of the mature kind. It's a pity when she returns, all these feelings seem somewhat wiped off the table, especially concerning Kuranosuke.

I think the lack of change in tsukimi on that perspective really misses the mark in the end delivery. As usual, as she was with Shuu, she feels like a passive object, or even an immature child dragged along in a rollercoaster of other's feelings. With shuu, proposing friggin MARRIAGE of all things, it works for a good comedic effect, but it's not material to close the story with. And I think that's a shame, and I don't think leaving that 'for the future' was a great solution. And if she weren't going to end up with any of them, it should have clearly been HER choice. Not only her clear rejection of Shuu, but also a rejection of Kuranosuke. Saying 'I am not ready' are anything that shows HER resolve would do. Even though that wouldn't have been my favorite outcome it would have pointed to Tsukimis maturation on that prospect.

Also, Kuranosuke....his transition from having involuntary skips of his heartbeat due to having an crush on Tsukimi, while in denial, to utterly and outspokenly speaking to his brother about her 'choosing one of them', seems rough, or atleast something badly worked out. Maybe I should read it again, but it felt unnatural to me. Also, where did that 'she might live with us', come from? Wasn't the mainpoint to 'save' amamizukan? Did I miss them fully giving up on that, before moving to this weird trio two men and a 'baby' resolve? And honestly, I missed those 'heartbeat' moments, it felt to me during the times his love for her was put aside to another rollercoaster clothing plot, it was gone, atleast in that heartthrobby way, a small extra hint in some part would have been more satisfying.

There's also a lot of left out plotpoints being tied up the wrong way. Fish just 'coming back' to amamizukan after clearly setting the image of being daunting and abusive (almost villainous in some ways), leaving or woojeon or wayoung not being adressed (what was the point of the story of his 'humble background' when nothing happens plotwise to resolve it). And what about Vixen just 'showing her face' after that whole plot around her falling in love with Shuu....ugh...before she just vanished...

Anyway not really satisfied...but...atleast it had 'some' closure I guess? It's better than the project just vanishing into thin air.

perfect

The ending in terms of her and Kuranosuke does disappoint me a bit.  I mean, I'm not asking for a marriage, I don't even think I'd want one.  I'm not even insisting on a kiss.  But some sign of . . . eros?  Passion?  Desire?  Their acknowledgement of mutual affection was for me hard to tell from an agreement that they're really good friends, especially on her side.  There was a lot more romance in the sudden revelations from Mejiro-sensei.

But, well, what a long strange trip it's been, eh?  And in terms of the ensemble cast it was a fine ending.  So I'm happy, if a bit wistful.

This was perfect.... I loved that ending so much.

Ending too sudden uuuuugh

First off, thank you all the scanlators work to bring this work to us.

Secondly:

Spoiler

now delete all the chapters!!! :D

I'm actually pretty okay with the ending. Although I agree that it could have had a few more chapters to properly address all the plot points, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out.

Spoiler

Well now, the conclusion was... underwhelming. I felt too many plot threads were shoehorned into one closing chapter, thereby reducing the impact and emotional payoff (ex. Kuranosuke and his mom)

But it doesn't take away how much I enjoyed the series, especially the beginning. Wonderful, wonderful read!

Thank you Higashimura-sensei~! And Hachimitsu Scans for all the scanslations and updates.

A great ending and a wonderful ride all the way...

Everyone can become beautiful princesses... even guys. So don't give up on your dream, y'all! :)

It feels a bit rushed, but I'm still very happy with how it ended.

Spoiler

It has ended. My gosh. I can't .. not sure what am I doing next.. this empty feeling.

I think I will just sit in the corner for the day.

It's popular in America because it's so good, higashimura-sensei. Also thanks to hachimitsu scans spreading the good word.

Oh... I didn't even realize the next chapter would be the last... but I guess it was about time? Left me feeling conflicted because I'm happy that it ended on a good note, but it felt a little bit rushed. Definitely could have squeezed just a couple more chapters to fix the pacing a bit more.

Also,

Spoiler

It's been awhile since I read the manga from the beginning so, I might just go do that and relive the nostalgia~ Huge thank you to scanlators and everyone who poured their heart into Kuragehime!

Clara... truly, the last member of Jellyfish has always been with the Amars.

It's been a long journey, but I loved every single chapter of this manga. I'll have fun rereading it in the future, too. Thanks, Hachimitsu!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa I had given up all hope of ever seeing this manga finished. Thank you Higashimura and Hachimitsu Scans!!!

I think I am psychic lol, the Day before yesterday checking with a 'gutfeeling'.
While I loyally follow this manga though, I am still awaiting some 'swoon' moments. While I like the love not being too mainfocussy, I still think This comic had been going too sterile for too long with All the mainfocus on the dressmaking. Also the arc with Fish seemed a bit too much of a forced block on the road without actually delivering the ultimate drama and climactic point it could have gotten. By This point I,d think it best to allow tsukimi to just end up with no one and kuranosuke to be either asexual or gay.
Also the heck vixen come back! I dislike her near disappearance act.

Also! I don't like the weird light brow dark hair combo on tsukimis face in some of the most recent drawings! Why??? It is a slight point of irritation, but I don't get it. I mean she had bristles, and dark bristles are great again!
Higashimura is incredible, I'll be sad when this ends but at least she's going to finish it properly

One of the first josei i watched when it became an anime. instantly fell in love with it, but for some reason, I've been not reading it. and now i find out its just updated and that means im gonna have to reread the whole thing again

LIFE

what the ... sooner than expected. I'm nervous with anticipation. I'm bookmarking the final chapter as the catalyst for me to completely change my life.
