It's all about men talking down to women who apparently understand nothing and cannot make any decisions about their bodies without a 30 page guilt trip. Even the one female doctor gets no respect, constantly needs encouragement from her male colleague and gets her opinions shut down. And why is the pianist thing even there? Its adds absolutely nothing to do story, except make the main character look "cooler" I guess.

Sorry guys, Kounodori is dropped by FwPA.

Oh no!! That makes me feel sad, but I know they would have their reasons, I understand  with as well.

Even here, Truck-kun strikes again.

Yupi!!!!! New chapter, NEW CHAPTER!!!! (I missed my husbandos so muchhhhhh) Yeah, Dr.Kounotori and Dr.Shinomya I'm talking about you.

As a Malaysian, i can confirm that page 8, and yet, these modern time, we dont usually mind so much unless life are at risk, if its not, yes... they can be stubborn as hell to get a female doctor....

btw, what's up with the volume icon? ยง??

Reading comprehension isn't your strong point, is it?

Quoted from the study you posted. Last update to this was from 2014.

It says "other studies" not the study the CDC did themselves. That "other studies" footnote links to a study done in 2011.

And then the Danish National Birth Cohort study footnote links to it showing it was done in 2012.

The 3rd and final footnote was from 2003.

All 3 studies older than the current one I linked which was done by the CDC in 2014.

Part of publishing research material is linking to journals where opposite results were found. It gives the foundation of new researchers to come in and do a new study and use both data to compare and contrast in case something was overlooked in the methodology.

Not sure I completely agree with the manga's sentiments (especially the whole abortion=murder forgetting all the medical literature and the doctor using it to scare the girl into keeping it), but it is very sweet. Overly sappy at parts but it has a lot of heart and I can overlook it, especially when the main character seems like he legitimately cares about his patients. Thumbs up from me.

What chance? The CDC literally says it doesn't affect the child in that first bullet point.

If you have a drinking problem or alcoholism runs in your family, then yes, mild drinking during pregnancy is dangerous since you can't control yourself to drink mildly. But the same goes for any other vice like fast food and junk food.

Most women don't have control issues so eating McDonalds and drinking a glass of wine once a month isn't going to affect the baby.

For example, a recent study of the same study population investigated here, the Danish National Birth Cohort, found that even low amounts of alcohol consumption during early pregnancy substantially increased the risk of miscarriage.2 Further, drinking alcohol during pregnancy has consistently been shown to result in lifelong disorders in children, known as fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs).

why take the chance? just stop smoking or drinking altogether, if you cant quit permanently,  at least until you gave birth to the child,

if you arent prepare to stop doing those for a better chance for a safe childbearing and child birth, then you're not ready to have a child overall

its like wanting to have a car or motorbike but you have motion sickness, and you're still stubborn to want to ride it anyway, sure most of the time you'll be fine if you give your undivided attention, try hard and focus on it, but at some point your motion sickness will come, and the worst part, it wouldnt be only your life is at risk, but there's a chance you will take other innocent people as well

Yes in excess.

Nothing to get you tipsy. Half a glass of wine, a single flute of champagne, or one shot of sake--that type of stuff very rarely.

Everything in moderation. Same with coffee, greasy foods, etc.

Welcome to the comments section.

If you haven't read this yet, let me be the first to say:
Welcome to ethics and learning more than you ever thought you wanted to know about the business of being born. This manga does NOT take sides and gives issues mothers face nearing childbirth fair weight. Explaining the subject from an entirely new point of view.
Sit back, relax, and prepare to learn you a thing or two about the process of dealing with the results of your horizontal mambo.

Bring along tissues for good measure. You're gonna need them to wipe your eyes.

This manga is making me cry waaaay too much.  Am I just strange?

a storm is brewing..........

I was getting some suspicions about Mole Lady but after her explanation to Mori it's nice to see that she's not even going to be misguidedly antagonistic.

so many flags it looks like 4th of july

Yea, Mori is doomed for C - section.

You know, with every chapter, I like this manga more and more. This is just the latest example of a well written chapter in which modern issues are addressed but in a very fair manner. It doesn't take sides, but it addresses the issues relating to pregnancy and birth in a very frank manner. It doesn't try to cheerlead one thing or another. Rather it says "These are the issues. This is a possibility. You can compromise and still acknowledge the benefits of one or another side."

That Mole Lady's smile...shit is going down

Uh... Isn't it really bad for a pregnant woman to be drinking?  Like at all?  Fetal alcohol syndrome and all that?

Yes in excess.

Shinomiya's face while he was on the phone was great.

Very good points

Just going to add that kounodori explicitly stated he did NOT think abortion was murder, but other people might.

not really going to go into huge detail on my views but i do agree with abortion, and a lot of people seem to have the misconception that abortion is some crazy unsupervised, anarchic procedure.

The only time abortion could ever be considered murder, is when abortion is not allowed, unless under extreme circumstances and there are a LOT of regulations and rules regarding abortion, it isn't a simple and easy thing you can just write on a piece of paper and do real quick ya know.

This chapter just made me hate smoking more.
