I'd guess it's a euphemism because they're still hiding the fact that he is actually the demon king. They go to no lengths to try to cover it up, but the absurdity itself means that without a explicit explanation, it's unlikely for others to catch on.

I guess his confusion came from the thought that you were translating the comic , not abiding by funimation's wishes.
It is technically Demon King, but Funimation translated it to Big Bad in the anime, and I didn't want to change what Korosensei was called after 12 episodes of Koro Q. Personally, I think it sounds a little cuter that way too.
I think "Big Bad" is wrong. Shouldn't it be "demon king"? Anyways, thanks for taking the translation.
