Yep, romance stories are character driven. There's a clear sense of progression. A relationship will eventually hit it's zenith even if all the misunderstandings and love rivals/crazy parents have their say.
Shonen creators can always add more characters because most of the cast is static all through. There's an incentive to just stunt character development or even revert them after awhile just to print money.
Still... One question remains, will Skip Beat ever end?
"was", not "is". It turned into filler of the week long ago. One thing I respect about shoujo over shounen is that they will let a series end when it is over instead of having it lurch across the landscape in a ghastly semblance of life for as long as it sells.
Thank you for translating this to english as well, Lemonade Scans!
I like the fact that we don't really know who is the main character
This mangaka sure likes creating crazy female characters.
This is really interesting. Looking forward to how the story will develop
I know Eiji was probably in love with Izumi but the prologue made it seem like he liked Naohiko
I'm pretty sure that this manga won't sell more than Horimiya... that is a shounen rom-com just like this
And don't compare all the shounen romcom to this to-love ru rip offs like SEO crap
Ao no flag, soredemo boku wa, reLife, hoshino me o tsubete and so on
all pretty decent and solid histories, all sell moderately and no ecchi at all
and I'm sure that all of those mangakas make more money with weekly serializations than Mizuno with monthly shoujos
¡Qué buen estreno! Muchas gracias por trabajarla, saludos .
It's not a spin-off, it's a new manga with new characters
Is this a spin-off from one of the author's other series? Looking at their other works it seems like they have quite a few "Shojo romance from a guy's perspective" series, some of which are spin-offs in their own right so I'm curious if these guys are side characters in any of their other works.
Because shounen romcoms like this wouldn't sell. You'd need tits and exposed panties and retarded characters (eg: any Seo Kouji creation) created by a retard (eg: Seo Kouji) to succeed in that pustulant genre. Most competent mangakas would rather keep their dignity than stoop that low.
for us nothing, but for the mangaka's paycheck it matters a lot
If the art is good, the characters are good, and it doesn't have too many cliches, what does it matter that it's shoujo and not shounen (especially since the main protagonists are already dudes)?
the art is good, the characters are good, the cliche is not bad... I think this going to be good
I just don't understand why this mangaka make shoujos instead of shounen romcom
with this art and such gorgeous female characters it would be a hit
