Uh..... that is a very different aspect altogether. I wasn't even referring to "Saving the World" cause quite frankly, I would be happy to see more "World Actually ends" scenarios if they are written well(I purposely go for bad/evil endings in games on occasion cause sometimes I just want carnage ). Also, I thought this discussion was on anime and manga writers, not Visual Novels. The VN version of Sakura Doki isn't like this after all. I do commend you for the example though, even if it is eroge series with rape......

My point is that the genre in general has a LOT of room to be a LOT more creative. Its just that most/traditional/old writers/editors/developers refuse to go that route for financial/safety/difficulty in writing it reasons.

A story where the "World actually ends"? Guess what: its been done. Muvluv/Unlimited's only ending is a "Earth is destroyed" regardless of which path you pick (but the developers didn't play it straight and released Muvluv Alternative).

If you wanted to talk about anime: Magic Knight Rayearth. Girls from 'real world Japan' get summoned to be assassins cause the people of said magical world won't/can't do what needs to be done. Cue sequel/second season and things have gone from worse to brink-of-annihilation. (Do things eventually get better? We're never told.)

If you wanted to talk about manga: The World God Only Knows. In the end, the MC picks a girl who was a side character for most of the series and rest of the harem is outright left hanging (Harem side characters? HA! They get their memories wiped!). Are the girls (more or less) happy? Lolno. What do the girls do about it? Well, thats up to the reader's imagination isn't it? (Until a sequel is released)

Possession? Dual personality? Psychically linked? Whichever the case it certainly would explain how he could see the resemblance cause EVERY girl looks almost the same discounting hair anyway.

 

Is it even possible to make such a milked genre more creative?^{(I do plan to make it more interesting though with my own improvised type of harem MC so look forward to that )} We already have series that tear harem and romance aspects to ribbons but while keeping it new and hilarious at the same time and those are so far the ones that are the least cliche. The next type would be the messed up type _{a.k.a.School Days}  where there is more twisted content(eg -smut, brutality) than endless "doki doki" but those are mostly kept to seinen not shounen and the audience is more limited.

though the same thing, 7 chapters and still don't like her, the kind of tsundere girl and the one afraid of boys are more likeable, but I think it's more about this manga scream that the SC prez is going to win this version (I know it's VN, so in there they will have the other endings), but still ... she sucks xD

It isn't author's genes, it is the Japanese audiences's genes. The only reason writers make these cliche stuff is cause they are appealing to the market. Same reason we have so many harem series. It isn't that the writers really want to write harem tropes, just that it works and gets the popularity they need to convey the actual story. Let's face it, some series work just fine even without the harem elements. That's cause they are about something bigger, not just the romance. Some series make the romance into a joke.

I thought it would be interesting with a capable MC, cool-headed and a bit cold but in the end the MC is run of the mill push over.

Disappointing, was hoping for the MC to have some initiative but it seems he's easily manipulated or controlled by the girls. Instead of him taking the initiative.... another manga where the MC turns out to be a M.

 

Maybe being a M is in most of the author's genes?

 

Btw, tenchi muyo was good... even the anime war on geminar, even if the MC was pushed around, atleast he had some initiative and resisted. One of my favourite animes.

Yeah but Seo Kouji's works are just manga with only him doing the writing for his own benefit. This is promotional manga for a game so if you want to see about the logic, then wait for the game. Many galge are cliches anyway, unless they deal with severe tragedy like Key works or Katawa Shoujo or even something like White Album 2. So far, the biggest unique aspect in this other than storytelling is the MCs personality. The girls are more or less general archetypes of galge.
