Thanks for the update, it's been so long! Also, I highly doubt that guy would pick Komugi, especially if he was worth the respect of all of these chefs. He might see her as someone he would consider taking on as an apprentice, but to fill the gap of the chef who left, he probably would want someone more experienced.

I prefer Oishii Kankei. I'm kind of speaking out of prejudice against this mangaka too. Never been a fan of her. It's not because her stories offend me like another mangaka's but it's just I don't like the chibi inclusions. I can do without them. They're supposed to be comic and humorous but to me it's always been a turn off.

I prefer this one. Oishii Kankei was a little too melodramatic and realistic for me. If I wanted something like that I'd watch an afternoon drama for housewives. =P

This is more lighthearted. Its to Oishii Kankei what maccarons would be to butter-cream cake.

This mangaka . . . went and checked . . . wait a minute, she's the mangaka who did H3!

(Which is all scanlated but for reasons which may well be good and sufficient, we don't have most of it here)

And H3 is awesome.  So maybe this will be good too.

One thing I will say, end of ch. 2 is wrong.  Her morning garlic breath knocks over most of the kitchen staff--including the actual Italian!  No way would an Italian be bothered by garlic breath.

Ed. to add:  I haven't really seen chibi stuff so far.  You sure you're not thinking of Yoshihara Yuki, who has a somewhat similar art and comedic style but with more smut, and does a lot of chibi stuff?  Mangaka of stuff like "Haa Haa" and "Itadakimasu".

Wow, sudden escalation much?

The more I read, the more it looks like an adaptation of "Oishii Kankei"

Finally an update! :D Thanks AnpanMayo and Tasty Kiwi Scans!

I also recommend Shinya Shokudou, in a very different style (it's slice of life with a old-fashioned food stall, food & cooking are not the main focus but the setting and pacing are neat)

Shinya Shokudou is all kinds of legit awesome. There's a live TV series for it too, while rather different in the stories, is still pretty good. It will make you shed tears, AND THEY WILL BE MANLY AS ALL FUCK.

Spoiled girl -_- Hate the character.

The more I read, the more it looks like an adaptation of "Oishii Kankei"

Oishii Kankei's setting is very similar to this one (so similar I wonder if Palette isn't kind-of a copy). And Bambino was awesome.

I second Oishii Kankei.  It's an interesting manga . . . starts slow and seems a bit cliche, but both the characters and the plot develop a whole lot over the course of it.

Add Bambino!
It's really cool as well.

P.S. I love all the mangas that you mentioned. :3

Dont miss this one!!

Check out Nobunaga no Chef, Cooking Master Boy, and Mister Ajikko. Props to Cooking Papa too! Such a good series. For more of a shonen manga, there's Hell's Kitchen, Shokugeki no Soma, and Yakitate Japan. For shojo, there's Kitchen Princess.

I haven't seen a scanlated version but Oishinbo has been officially brought out by Viz. Unfortunately for that series, it jumps chapters after the first volume and not to mention that, imo, it became a bit lecturing in the later volumes.

...There's also a food detective manga I ran across but I forgot the name. I think it was done by the same person who did Cooking Master Boy.

Huhuhu, yeah, I read a lot of cooking manga's. There's even manga's on wine and alcohol. PM me if you want to know more. :3

here,  a chef will never name "bettola" his restaurant: it's italian slang for a  shabby  place....

 a disparaging   word.

They should have a tag 'Cooking' or 'Eating' in Manga... I like these types of Manga... any one have some recommendations?
