Oh no, has it ended?
Not to be too preachy but the manga tends to be about showing the darker parts of the human psyche taken to the extreme, the people didn't want to move away and didn't mind taking their kids down with them because they had the ego to believe that there was no other way. "Well I've lived here my whole life, if this storm is going to kill me that's just destiny" is a line that gets thought by someone who dies in a hurricane-prone area likely every year. Doesn't mean they're not affecting other people with their decision to die.
They were in a prime forest, couldn't move a mile up the hill Kino was on for safety?
Hell they could have just moved out temporarily and re-entered once the volcano had stopped.
Just take all your shit and rebuild elsewhere.
That's what humans do.
The country had a month to move a short distance away and rebuild, but nope, down with the ship for no reason.
Kino's Journey Through Freedomland (Screech)
I absolutely LOVE the dialogues between Kino and Hermes in this manga. They play off of each other and it feels so natural. Hermes's playful nature, which we know from the 2003 anime really shows well here.
Ah, I see. Also its a chapter of one of the latest volumes (that surprised me also).
So right now, I can´t read its LN chapter (to compare them).
Thanks again. ^^
By the way, right now I´m at volume 11. So I´ve still a bit to read~
Volume 19, chapter 8.
If you're reading the LNs in English, the chapter's not yet translated and the title on Baka-Tsuki is different.
Does someone know, to which light novel chapter the second manga chapter (Land of Slugging -Busters-) refers?
I´m in the middle of reading the light novels, but I don´t know where to put this manga chapter (or if I´ve already read the original version of it, but can´t remember it). I also checked there the chapter titles of the LN, but still not really a clue. Or is this maybe an original manga story?
Thanks in advance.
I wonder what the native readers thought of this chapter since they can't own any guns.
Also it seems kino wasn't in a "stand your ground" state. Overall it's a good depiction of the American attitude to guns.
Well that was different from the last chapter. In that country, murder is legal and you can keep weapons but it's only against those that try to kill others and disturb the peace. Now in this country, anyone can have a gun but not only do you have to learn the country's gun laws and the responsibility of using one, you can't use a gun to shoot an unarmed opponent even if their trying to rob harm you(fighting back while unarmed is ok).
Still, i think any NRA member will hate living in those countries due to their laws.
the right connection huh? I'm still a kid so i don't know much about it.. Like where i can get it in my country..
I guess we still can get it if we really want to..
But l'm pretty sure that having a gun is not that common in my country..
I think my favorite part of this chapter is the fact that even the muggers were decent shots. They've got a grapefruit sized grouping on the heart even after mag dumping into wall Kino
Its like the 10 commandments of the government (lol)
Of course, you have to get license and stuff, but hey, you can get any gun in any country with the right connection
i've been wondering this for so long.. is that really true, having a gun is that common in america? Like in the movies.. lol.. even on youtube.. I saw that every Gun youtuber are Gaijin (westerner), and a lot of them that i know were American or Canadian..
sorry if i'm wrong..
finally an adaptation on america.
The message here, I believe, is that it's the people make countries, not laws. (Bowling for Columbine)
The issue with that is that removing (potential) threats from society is fine and all, but the definition of who is and isn't a threat might change over time. Where exactly do you draw the line? If you just decide on a case by case basis, the line will inevitably blur more and more as time goes on and people's perception changes. (Athenian Ostracism) Also, you can't undo a wrong "judgement", if the sentence was death.
I love the twist in the story. The country's rules where murder is legal seems like a killer's paradise only to be revealed it's actually a country where people know killing is wrong and is only necessary against those that try to harm and kill others which is why the murder is legal law made for.
am just started reading Kino's.. both of them.. and i am hooked..
i heard of this Kino's Journey many times.. even i heard there's anime of it.. but this is the first time i've read it..
i'm glad.. i found a gem..
frankly i probably wouldn't care less if the art of everything shifts drastically...
because there's one thing that stayed which is the most important one to me
ie: the guns...
which is what drew me to Kino in the first place, it is rare to find a series drawn, animated, or even written by someone who knew the details and difference between various guns and actually can show the detail clearly enough to the point that i can tell exactly what guns they were based on IRL just from their look.
