Okay, I guess it's a case of Hollywood Homely? Because Vol.2 Special's Yuriko described herself as 'plain,' and my first thought was 'Yamato Nadeshiko.' Hu...uh.
Edit: Grr, Vol.6 Ch.23 showcases a theme I dislike- namely a woman with a sex drive is "lewd" or "perverse." Y'know, instead of perfectly healthy. It's not that uncommon here in the States, so I assume the "sexual liberation" of women is even further behind in Japan. So it makes sense, and is in character. Doesn't mean I have to like it when I run into it, though. /laugh
