Hello Folks, Gent from Irregular Scans here.

With Batoto shutting down in a few days, all links to our releases will be posted to our Tumblr and Twitter, so please take a moment to read our PSA uploaded with the latest chapter and follow us so you don't miss any chapters. You can also follow our Discord for news about release dates and lots more.

All links to our sites here : https://vatoto.com/group/_/i/irregular-scans-r5993

We will be scanlating the entire Kindaichi File series over the next 12 months, so we're looking forward to having you on board!

EDIT :

We are collaborating with Kindaichi Lovers for future releases, so please also follow their page for more content. They're also subbing the original Kindaichi anime, so they've got tons of Kindaichi content!

Kindaichi Lovers website : http://www.kindaichi-lovers.net/

We will go back to chronological order with Headless Samurai Murder Case coming up next.

Yikes! What happened in between page 70 and page 71 of Chapter 18~20!?

I think we might need a reupload...

Wha- how old is this!? He DIDN'T get a nosebleed!?

Spoiler

Hey guys, Gent from Irregular Scans here.

So Kindaichi is back, and it should be updated at a steady rate. We've updated our recruitment page with the latest chapter, so have a look over, and if you're interested, give us a holler at the links mentioned in the page. We'd really like a cleaner with experience to work on the Kindaichi raws, which are quite old and hard to deal with.

On the other hand, we're glad to announce that we've created a Discord server, where you can join us and interact with the scanlators to know about future releases. Tumblr and Twitter pages are also in the works, so you can follow us over there and be updated with our progress. You can also contact us here if you wish to volunteer for us.

Thank you for your support as always!

Not that i'm angry, furious or anything, just curious. What about cases from 9-13? From what i see scanlators skipped them and went straight to case 14 i wonder what's the reason.

We actually wanted to put this on hiatus and try to bring Kindaichi R up to date, but then Z Quality Scans kindly offered to help.

So, we decided on doing their favourite cases first which is why we had to skip some volumes. We'll eventually do all the volumes in good time.

All cases from 2-8 are fully scanlated and available to read here!

Next case will be Case 14 - Graveyard Isle Murder Case.

FYI, it's livor mortis not rigor mortis.

Chris Einstein has GOT to be involved in the Treasure Island murders somehow, seeing as how he just let Kindaichi walk into a geyser zone while faking a sprain in order to keep Miyuki back...

Edit: Fell for that Read herring big time....

I keep looking for something special about that one frame with Yoko that got Kindaichi to figure out the locked room trick, but I have no clue whatsoever. Does anyone have any ideas?

instead going right to vol 8 how about completing vol 6 first, i can't read vol 7 yet because i am waiting for the broken heart lake murder case finished first haha

It took time, but Broken Heart Lake is finally up! The last chapter will also be uploaded by the end of the day.

This is one of the best case of Kindaichi, personally.

Every little details has a purpose.

I feel ya man, but our typesetter who is working on Vol. 6 is feeling a little under the weather, so I thought I could move ahead while she gets better.

All the volumes are independent of each other, so you can start Vol. 7 before 6, just saying.

Thank you for the updates ! :)

The Hotel Europa case was published under license in English in 2004 by Tokyopop under the title The Santa Slayings (volume 7 of The Kindaichi Case Files if your local library has a good manga collection and you want to read ahead).

(This isn't the first Kindaichi story being posted which was already published in English by Tokyopop, but I think it's the first one where the title differed in the Tokyopop release. They also changed the name of the hotel; in the Tokyopop version, it's the "Hakodate Royal Hotel". Tookyopop almost never included any translation notes so no idea why they made those changes.)

I think I'll try to answer this, after skimming through wiki unfortunately.

The real title for "Santa's Slaying" is actually "Ijinkan Hotel Murder Case". Term "Ijinkan" here refer to western-style buildings built around late of Meiji-era and beginning of Taisho-era in Japan (I can't explain much detail about eras in Japan, I'm only paraphrasing from wiki!). Perhaps the scanlation group has an idea "since it's western, let's make it 'Europa'!"? I don't know. The hotel's considered lavish at that time so maybe Tokyopop went "Royal hotel" way because they realize this fact too, I guess.

Wait, what happened to volume 1? I am pretty sure I read it here. Did it get deleted recently?

I was the one who posted it and later took it down. Volume 1 was actually a direct scan of the official copies, and hosting that is a violation of Batoto policies.

We're a tad short of staff right now, so if I get enough members, I'll make sure to scanlate volume 1 and get it up as soon as possible.

Why is this marked as complete?

Technically, this "File Series" ends with 27 volumes... but translations hasn't been completed

The one ongoing (and now on hiatus) at the moment is "Return Series"

Why is this marked as complete?

r u guys gonna fill in the gap between vol.4 and 6?

Yeah, we will, in time. We're really short on typesetters, so it will be slow going. Volume 7 was a fan request, so I skipped 4-6 and went with it.

The files in between will be up for sure. In fact, file 5 of Seven Mysteries will be up in a few hours!

I love this kind of mystery manga. Many thanks for the translation!
